Nestled at the intersection of Spring Cypress and Telge Road in Cypress, Texas, Little Cypress Creek Preserve offers residents a peaceful escape into nature. This 58-acre undeveloped park serves as a sanctuary for wildlife enthusiasts, hikers, and families seeking a break from suburban life.

A Natural Oasis in Cypress

Acquired by Harris County in 2004 and officially opened in March 2005, Little Cypress Creek Preserve has become a cherished spot for locals. Maintained by Harris County Precinct 3, the preserve features 1.7 miles of rustic trails that meander through dense woods, wetlands, and along the scenic Little Cypress Creek. These trails cater to walkers, joggers, bikers, and even horseback riders, offering a versatile outdoor experience.

Rich Biodiversity and Wildlife Watching

Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the preserve's diverse flora and fauna. Over 100 species of birds have been observed here, including the Cooper’s Hawk, Great Blue Heron, and Eastern Bluebird. The area also supports various mammals like white-tailed deer and raccoons, as well as numerous amphibians and reptiles. Ten human-made ponds within the preserve create a thriving wetland habitat, enhancing opportunities for birdwatching and photography.

Community Efforts and Amenities

The development of Little Cypress Creek Preserve is a testament to community collaboration. Volunteers have contributed significantly by clearing land, planting trees, building benches, and installing signposts along the trails.Notably, Eagle Scouts constructed a bird blind and amphitheater-style seating, enriching the educational and recreational value of the preserve.

The preserve is open daily from 7:00 AM to dusk.Visitors can enjoy activities such as hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, and environmental education. Amenities include benches, a gazebo, and shaded structures, providing comfortable spots to relax and immerse oneself in the natural surroundings.
