Cypress Ranch HS Wins 16-6A Title; 7 Volleyball Teams Enter Playoffs

The District 16-6A and District 17-6A volleyball seasons ended on Oct. 25 with seven CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL playoffs.

Cypress Ranch High School is advancing as the undefeated District 16-6A champion. This is the second consecutive district title for the Mustangs.

“I am thrilled to be a part of this journey to state with this group of girls,” said Chrissy Woodward, Cypress Ranch head volleyball coach. “They are extremely talented and hardworking. I’m excited to see how far we can go and hopefully make Cypress Ranch history!”

Also advancing from District 16-6A are Bridgeland, Langham Creek and Cypress Woods high schools. Bridgeland finished with a 12-2 record, claiming the second seed. Langham Creek posted a 10-4 record, claiming the third seed, while Cypress Woods finished with an 8-6 record, claiming the fourth seed.
 
Bridgeland High School junior Alice Volpe helped lead the Bears to a 12-2 district record, earning the team the second playoff seed in District 16-6A. Bridgeland will play Klein Oak at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the Berry Center.
 
In District 17-6A, Cy-Fair, Cypress Creek, Jersey Village and Stratford high schools are advancing to the postseason. Cy-Fair finished with a 12-2 record, claiming the second seed, while Cypress Creek posted a 10-4 record, claiming the third seed. Jersey Village finished with a 7-7 record, claiming the fourth seed and earned its first playoff berth in eight years.
 
Cy-Fair High School junior Presley Steward helped lead the Bobcats to a 12-2 record in District 17-6A, earning the second playoff seed. Cy-Fair will meet Houston Lamar at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the Don Coleman Coliseum.
 
Cypress Ranch, Bridgeland, Langham Creek and Cypress Woods will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:
  • Cypress Ranch will face Tomball Memorial at 6 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road);
  • Bridgeland will play Klein Oak at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the Berry Center;
  • Langham Creek will meet Klein Collins at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Waller High School (20950 Field Store Road); and
  • Cypress Woods will play Tomball at 5 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Waller High School.

Cy-Fair, Cypress Creek and Jersey Village will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Cy-Fair will face Houston Lamar at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at the Don Coleman Coliseum (1050 Dairy Ashford Road);
  • Cypress Creek will play Houston Heights at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Delmar Fieldhouse (2020 Mangum Road); and
  • Jersey Village will meet Houston Bellaire at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Delmar Fieldhouse.
Jersey Village High School junior Sophia Burke helped lead the Falcons to a 7-7 record in District 17-6A, earning the fourth playoff seed and the first playoff berth for the Falcons in eight years. Jersey Village will face Houston Bellaire at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Delmar Fieldhouse.
