Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. Celebrates 30 Years With Award-Winning 2026-2027 Concert Season in Northwest Houston

August 17 2026

For three decades, Northwest Houston residents have not always had to make the drive downtown to hear accomplished musicians, introduce a child to live performance or spend an evening surrounded by the arts. Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. has worked to bring those experiences closer to home.

Now, the Cypress Creek Foundation for the Arts and Community Enrichment is celebrating that legacy with its 30th Anniversary 2026-2027 season, pairing an award-winning roster of nationally recognized performers with affordable daytime concerts, free children’s programming, music education and opportunities for young musicians.

The milestone season also begins a new leadership chapter. Bob Schefferine has been named executive director of Cypress Creek F.A.C.E., bringing more than 25 years of experience in television, live events and performing arts leadership to the Northwest Houston nonprofit.

The organization’s two signature concert offerings — the Saturday-night Star-Lit! Series and Tuesday-afternoon Promenade Series — will return to The Centrum, 6823 Cypresswood Drive in Spring, a venue that has been closely tied to Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. since its beginnings.

Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. Marks 30 Years of Bringing the Arts Closer to Home

Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. began in 1997 as The Centrum was being developed at the Cypress Creek Christian Church and Community Center. Community leaders recognized that the new performance space needed an organization dedicated to presenting concerts and cultural programming, leading to the creation of the Foundation for the Arts and Community Enrichment.

Over the years, the organization has grown beyond its concert calendar. Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. has provided live music, arts education, children’s performances, scholarships and summer music opportunities, establishing a place where Northwest Houston families can encounter professional performing arts without traveling far from their own neighborhoods.

Its history has included challenges as well as memorable performances. The Centrum and surrounding complex sustained significant flooding during Hurricane Harvey in 2017, temporarily displacing performances while restoration work took place. The venue eventually returned as a gathering place for the local arts community.

Entering the organization’s 30th season, Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. says it is looking both backward at the community members who sustained it and ahead to new audiences and opportunities.

“As we celebrate 30 years of Cypress Creek F.A.C.E., we’re not only honoring the incredible legacy of the people and community who created and nurtured this wonderful organization, but we’re building toward an exciting future,” says Schefferine. “This season reflects everything that makes F.A.C.E. special—nationally recognized artists, meaningful arts education, and the shared experience of live performance bringing people together right here in Northwest Houston.”

New Executive Director Brings National Entertainment Experience to Cypress Creek F.A.C.E.

Schefferine joins Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. with an entertainment and media career spanning more than 25 years.

An award-winning entertainment and media executive, he previously held executive leadership positions with Disney/ABC Television, USA Network and Theatre Under The Stars in Houston, with experience overseeing high-profile productions, national broadcasts and large-scale live entertainment events.

He now takes the helm as Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. enters a season designed to showcase just how broad the performing arts can be, moving from Texas and Western swing to Motown, country, gospel, jazz, classical music, alternative rock and a cappella performance.

Schefferine is listed by Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. as the organization’s executive director for the 2026-2027 season.

Star-Lit! Series Brings Six Major Performances to The Centrum

For residents searching for live music in Spring, Texas, Northwest Houston concerts or things to do near Cypress Creek, the 2026-2027 Star-Lit! Series offers six Saturday-night and special-event performances spanning several generations and musical styles.

The Texas Tenors | October 10, 2026

The anniversary season begins with The Texas Tenors, the most successful music group in the history of America’s Got Talent!.

Since their appearance on the television competition, the trio has released five studio albums and three PBS specials, earned three Emmy Awards and been named Billboard Magazine’s No. 10 Classical Artist in the World. With more than 2,500 concerts performed around the world, The Texas Tenors move easily between classical music, country and other styles built around their signature harmonies.

The October 10 performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at The Centrum.

Forever Motown: The Soul of Christmas | November 28, 2026

Thanksgiving weekend will bring a holiday spin on one of America’s best-known musical traditions with Forever Motown: The Soul of Christmas.

The high-energy production mixes Motown favorites with classic Motown Christmas music and features veteran entertainers and Broadway performers recreating the sound associated with artists including Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Gladys Knight and The Pips, The Temptations and Stevie Wonder.

The production also incorporates costumes by Tony Award-winning designer Evie Ross and classic Motown choreography from American Dance Theater director Terri Giordano.

The Lovin’ Spoonful | New Year’s Eve

Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. will close 2026 with The Lovin’ Spoonful on New Year’s Eve.

One of the defining American pop-rock groups of the 1960s, The Lovin’ Spoonful broke through with “Do You Believe in Magic” before producing a string of familiar songs including “Summer in the City,” “Did You Ever Have to Make Up Your Mind” and “Lovin’ You.”

The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000, giving Northwest Houston residents an opportunity to ring in 2027 with music connected to a defining era of American popular culture.

Take 6 | January 23, 2027

The new year continues with Take 6, an internationally acclaimed a cappella ensemble whose six voices combine intricate harmonies with gospel, jazz, R&B and pop.

The group has earned 10 Grammy Awards and 10 Dove Awards and is a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Its performances combine sophisticated vocal arrangements and syncopated rhythms with the friendship and faith that have been central to the ensemble’s identity.

Asleep at the Wheel | February 20, 2027

February brings a distinctly Texas sound to The Centrum when Asleep at the Wheel takes the stage.

Known around the world for keeping Texas and Western Swing music alive, the band continues under the leadership of founding member Ray Benson. Its current lineup also includes vocalist and fiddler Ian Stewart.

For longtime Texans — and newcomers still getting acquainted with the state’s musical heritage — the performance offers an opportunity to hear a style of music deeply connected to Texas culture.

10,000 Maniacs | May 8, 2027

The Star-Lit! season closes with 10,000 Maniacs, one of the enduring alternative rock bands to emerge from the 1980s.

Known for poetic songwriting, layered melodies and songs including “These Are Days,” the band has sold more than 10 million records worldwide. Its current tour celebrates the group’s 45th anniversary, with a particular focus on its groundbreaking Elektra Records years of the 1980s and 1990s.

The pairing creates something of a double anniversary for the May concert: Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. marking 30 seasons while 10,000 Maniacs reflects on 45 years of music.

Promenade Series Makes Live Music an Afternoon Outing

Not every performance at The Centrum requires an evening out.

The 2026-2027 Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. Promenade Series offers nine acoustic concerts on Tuesday afternoons, generally held on the second Tuesday of each month. The series is designed as a relaxed and accessible way to experience professional musicians in an intimate setting.

That daytime format can make the Promenade Series particularly useful for homeschool families looking for fine arts experiences, adults seeking daytime entertainment and seniors interested in an afternoon of music and social connection.

Groups of six or more can purchase tickets for $12 per person, offering another option for senior groups, homeschool organizations, neighborhood clubs and friends looking for affordable live entertainment together.

The 2026-2027 Promenade Series lineup includes Windsync, Mercury Chamber Orchestra, Diva Delights, Houston Brass Christmas, Aperio Music from the Americas, Rob Landes, Sam Houston State University Chorale, The Polish Duo and Ed Grigassy Duo. Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. is offering a season ticket covering all nine concerts.

The Anniversary Is About More Than the Main Stage

For Cypress Creek F.A.C.E., reaching a 30-year milestone is also a reminder that its work has never been limited to ticketed concerts.

The organization continues to offer programming created specifically for children and young musicians, part of its broader mission to make arts experiences accessible across different ages and stages of life.

Its annual Children’s Series includes free performances at the Mangum-Howell Community Center in Houston, giving families opportunities to experience music, culture and educational entertainment without the cost of admission. Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. has announced that the free series will continue during the 2026-2027 season.

“F.A.C.E. continues to expand its community impact through the free Children’s Series, where families with young children gather for afternoons filled with music, culture, learning, and fun,” says Bob Schefferine, Executive Director of Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. “The programs combine live entertainment with educational experiences that introduce children to musical traditions, instruments, science, and creative expression in an accessible and welcoming environment.”

For older students, Summer Strings provides affordable orchestra camps for young musicians in sixth through ninth grades.

Students who want to participate but do not have their own instrument may also be able to borrow a stringed instrument at no cost through the Narda Rignault Martin String Library at Cypress Creek F.A.C.E.

Those programs help connect the organization’s concert stage to something more lasting: introducing children to the arts, giving developing musicians space to grow and making participation possible for families who otherwise might face financial barriers.

What 30 Years of Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. Means for Northwest Houston

A cultural organization lasting three decades is ultimately about more than the number of concerts it has presented.

For Northwest Houston, Cypress Creek F.A.C.E.’s anniversary reflects years of families attending their first performances, young musicians developing their skills, longtime arts supporters returning season after season and nationally recognized performers appearing on a stage close to the neighborhoods residents call home.

From a child’s first free concert to a student orchestra camp, from an afternoon chamber performance to a Saturday night with a Grammy-winning group, the organization has built its identity around the idea that meaningful arts experiences should not feel distant or inaccessible.

As Cypress Creek F.A.C.E. moves into its 30th season, that same idea remains at the center of its plans: bringing people together through live performance and keeping the arts part of everyday community life in Northwest Houston.
