The Cypress Falls High School FFA is bringing a unique twist to Texas homecoming traditions with their “Mum for People’s Stanleys” initiative.

In a fun and creative effort, the club is encouraging students to decorate and customize Stanley cups with traditional homecoming mums. The project aims to foster school spirit while showcasing creativity and nurture students’ love for crafting.

“I wanted teachers to also feel included during homecoming week,” said Jessica Goodwin, Cypress Falls FFA teacher.

The initiative was inspired by a TikTok video shared by Cypress Falls secretary Renee Mullen. The video showcased a Stanley cup decorated with a traditional homecoming mum.

“I wanted to help raise money for future floral design projects,” Goodwin said. “So this initiative worked out perfectly.”

With the beginning of homecoming season being around the corner, Cypress Falls staff is excited to see how this new spin on a Texas classic will unfold.

“They are super cute and I love supporting this program,” said Miranda Fairman, Cypress Falls instructional coach. “They have a giant program and they do a lot of great things. I think it’s good for them to come up with creative ideas that people will want so they can have more sales and support the program in a bigger way.”

Staff aren’t the only people who are excited. Students are also hoping to participate as well.

“I loved the idea when I heard about it,” said Meilym Martinez, Cypress Falls floral design student. “It was a great idea and helps to cherish school spirit.”

The focus on creativity is not just about fundraising, it reflects the FFA’s commitment to engaging the entire school community and inspiring both staff and students alike.
