Cy-Fair Fire Department Launches Summer Safety Passport for Kids: Fun, Hands-On, and Life-Saving

July 31 2025

Summer just got a lot more exciting—and safer—for local kids. The Cy-Fair Fire Department (CFFD) has launched its Ready, Set, Rescue! Summer Safety Passport Program, a free, self-paced initiative designed to teach children ages 6–11 life-saving fire safety skills in fun and interactive ways.

The program invites kids to draw, build, act, and write their way through essential lessons about fire prevention, smoke alarm awareness, and creating emergency escape plans. Along the way, participants connect with real-life firefighters and even get the chance to explore a fire station at the end of summer.

“This program is about making fire safety engaging for kids,” said Leah Gowin, Director of Marketing and Community Relations for the Cy-Fair Fire Department representative. “Through hands-on activities, children not only learn how to respond in an emergency but also how to prevent one in the first place.”

Families can register online, stop by the CFFD Administrative Building at 10710 Telge Rd, Houston, TX 77095, or download the passport from the department’s website. Once enrolled, kids can complete challenges all summer long at their own pace. “It’s interactive, creative, and designed to keep young minds active while teaching them skills that truly save lives,”Gowin added.

Parents are encouraged to submit completed passports by September 15, 2025, to earn prizes and receive an invitation to the Fire Station Celebration, where kids will meet firefighters, tour a fire truck, spray a fire hose, and enjoy surprise activities. “We wanted to create something both fun and purposeful. This summer adventure is one that children will remember—and it could make a real difference in an emergency situation,” a spokesperson said.

Whether a child is passionate about art, enjoys building projects, or loves scavenger hunts, the Summer Safety Passport Program has something for every interest. “Every activity completed brings kids closer to rewards—and more importantly, closer to understanding how to stay safe,” said Gowin.
