Cy-Fair Women's Club's Shop 'til You Drop Event Draws Thousands at Community Celebration of Shopping and Giving

October 08 2024

On September 14, the Berry Center buzzed with activity as Cy-Fair Women's Club (CWC) hosted their highly anticipated annual fundraiser, Shop 'til You Drop. Over 275 vendors turned up, selling a wide variety of items, from small trinkets like Stanley toppers to hand-crafted outdoor decor, catering to an impressive crowd of over 5,300 shoppers.

The Cy-Fair Women's Club, since its humble beginnings in 1982 as the Copperfield Women's Club, has remained a steadfast pillar of support in the Cy-Fair region. This iconic event, which brings together the community for a day of shopping, serves a much deeper purpose. CWC President Elena McCreery shares, "Shop ‘til You Drop allows us to live out our mission statement - Bringing Women Together to Better Our Community. It allows us to fund our student scholarships and many local non-profit projects."

Earnings from the event help fund scholarships for Cy-Fair ISD seniors and various other non-profit projects. In 2023, proceeds from Shop 'til You Drop enabled the club to provide 35 scholarships and donate $10,000 to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation Houston for the Veteran’s Village in Tomball, amongst many other contributions. Though this year's final numbers are yet to be confirmed, the CWC's fundraising goal for Shop 'til You Drop always stands at a generous $40,000.

With an event of this magnitude, cooperation is key, and many eager hands are involved in its success. McCreery noted, "It takes a considerable organizational effort, many hours over two days to host vendors and shoppers. We are extremely grateful to our members and our generous Community Partners." This year’s Shop 'til You Drop saw dozens of CWC members volunteering, along with spouse volunteers, Community Partner volunteers, and student volunteers.

The event also hosted several community partners. MD Anderson presented an informative, walk-through breast display on breast health while Kendra Scott donated 20% of their booth's sales to the cause. Thirteen nonprofits who received funds from Cy-Fair Women’s Club were at this year's event,  including Cypress Assistance Ministries, Cy-Fair Helping Hands, Tunnel to Towers Foundation Houston Veterans Village, and Living Legacy Center. Each organization hosted a booth to share vital information about their organizations and upcoming initiatives, with Cypress Assistance Ministries also selling items from their Angels' Attic resale shop in Cypress.

The event garnered positive responses from the public and vendors alike on social media, texts, and emails. With the 2024 Shop 'til You Drop event in the books, the "Pink Ladies," as they are fondly known, are already gearing up for next year. McCreery states, "We are still crunching numbers from the 2024 event. However, planning is already underway for next year's Shop 'til You Drop." The 2025 event is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, at the Berry Center.
