Cy-Fair ISD Summer Meals Program Returns for 2026, Offering Free Breakfast and Lunch for Children Across Cypress and Northwest Harris County

May 26 2026

As another school year comes to a close, Cy-Fair ISD is preparing to once again help local families keep children fed, healthy and supported throughout the summer months.

Beginning in June, Cy-Fair Nutrition Services will provide free summer breakfasts and lunches for children 18 years old and younger, as well as enrolled students with disabilities up to age 21, at select campuses throughout Cy-Fair ISD. All meal sites will operate Monday through Thursday, offering families across Cypress, Jersey Village, Copperfield, Bridgeland and surrounding northwest Harris County communities access to dependable meals while school is out of session.

For many local families, summer meal programs help fill an important gap created when school cafeterias close for break. According to the Texas Department of Agriculture, more than one in five Texas children experiences food insecurity, making programs like the Summer Food Service Program especially important during the summer months.

Cy-Fair ISD Summer Meal Program Supports Local Families

Meals are available at no cost to eligible children, and no identification or Cy-Fair ISD enrollment is required for children 18 and younger. Students with disabilities who are enrolled in school may participate through age 21.

Families visiting meal sites can expect supervised, welcoming environments where children can enjoy healthy breakfasts and lunches during the summer break.

Cy-Fair Nutrition Services is one of hundreds of nonprofit and school-based organizations partnering with the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to expand access to summer nutrition programs across Texas. The Summer Meals Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered statewide through TDA.

In 2025 alone, Texas summer meal programs served more than 11.8 million meals and snacks through more than 4,300 approved meal sites statewide, according to TDA data.

How Families Can Find Additional Summer Meal Sites

In addition to Cy-Fair ISD campuses, families can search for meal locations throughout Texas using several free resources provided through the Texas Department of Agriculture:

  • Call 2-1-1 to speak with a live operator
  • Visit SummerFood.org
  • Text FOOD to 304-304

These tools help families locate nearby meal sites anywhere in Texas throughout the summer.

Helping Children Stay Healthy and Ready for the School Year Ahead

Summer meal programs are designed to support children’s health, growth and readiness to learn by ensuring consistent access to nutritious food while school is out. For many working families across the Cy-Fair area, the program also offers peace of mind during the busy summer season.

As Cy-Fair ISD communities continue growing, programs like the district’s Summer Meals Program remain an important reminder of the partnerships working behind the scenes to support local children and families long after the final school bell rings.

Residents can stay tuned to My Neighborhood News for additional Cy-Fair ISD updates, family resources and community news throughout the summer.
