Cy-Fair ISD January Board Meetings Set for Jan. 12 and Jan. 15: What Copperfield Residents Need to Know
Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District is continuing a busy start to 2026 with multiple Board of Trustees meetings that offer important insight into the operations and priorities of one of the largest school districts in Texas. On January 6, 2026 at 5:00 p.m., the Board held a Special-Called Meeting, which will be followed by two additional public meetings scheduled for mid-January. Residents of Copperfield are invited to participate in or follow along with the upcoming sessions, set to take place in the Board Room at the Mark Henry Administration Building (MHAB).
January 2026 CFISD Board Meeting Schedule
- Work Session: Monday, January 12 at 6:00 p.m.
- Regular Meeting: Thursday, January 15 at 6:00 p.m.

These meetings are among the first held under the leadership of the district’s newly elected board officers and trustees. Following the November 2025 elections and the December swearing-in, Julie Hinaman now serves as Board President, with Dr. Cleveland Lane Jr. as Vice President and Lesley Guilmart as Secretary, alongside trustees Kendra Camarena (Position 7), who is beginning her first term on the Board, Todd LeCompte (Position 1), Justin Ray (Position 3), and Christine Kalmbach (Position 4).
January 12: CFISD Board Work Session Highlights
The work session agenda includes:
- Recognitions of student, staff, and community achievements
- A performance update for students with disabilities
- Progress report from the Long-Range Planning Committee
- Review of multiple policy revisions related to curriculum, student services, and academic achievement
- Authorization of agreements with higher education institutions, including SFA and UH
- Review of construction easements and purchase authorizations
While public comments on agenda items are allowed at this session, Citizen Participation (non-agenda topics) will take place only during the regular board meeting on Jan. 15.

January 15: Regular Board Meeting and Citizen Participation
The regular meeting will mirror many of the same action items discussed in the work session, but this session will also include Citizen Participation, giving Copperfield residents the opportunity to voice opinions or concerns on topics not listed on the agenda.
Under CFISD Board Policy BED (LOCAL), here’s how to participate:
Register to Speak (Agenda Comments or Citizen Participation)
- Registration opens when the agenda is posted and closes at 12:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting.
- Visit the meeting agenda on the district website and click the “Register to Speak” link under the relevant section.
- Complete the electronic speaker form in full and be present at the meeting to speak.
- Agenda Comments are generally heard before each related item.
- Citizen Participation is typically held at the beginning of the regular meeting.
Time limits vary depending on the number of registered speakers:
- ≤15 speakers: 2 minutes each
- 16–30 speakers: 1 minute each
- 30 speakers: Top 30, based on registration timestamp, will be called
Speakers must present their own remarks and may not designate someone else to speak on their behalf. Comments must remain respectful and relevant to district concerns. Audience disruptions are prohibited and may lead to removal.
