Cy-Fair High School Marching Band Advances to UIL Class 6A State Finals: A Proud Moment for CFISD and the Cypress Community
The Cy-Fair High School marching band has earned a coveted spot in the UIL Class 6A State Marching Band Championship Finals, a prestigious achievement in Texas high school music education. The announcement came after a stellar preliminary round performance at the Alamodome in San Antonio on November 3, 2025.
Cy-Fair’s finals performance is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, when the Bobcat band will take the field with their 2025 show titled “Flicker.”
The University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Marching Band Contest is widely considered the pinnacle of high school marching competition in Texas—home to some of the most competitive and high-performing programs in the nation. Bands must first progress through regional and area contests, with only the top groups from each area advancing to state. Of those, just a select few make it through to the finals round.
Cy-Fair ISD had strong representation again this year, with Bridgeland, Cy-Fair, and Cypress Woods high schools each qualifying for the state contest—continuing a proud tradition of excellence with three CFISD schools advancing to state for the fifth consecutive year.

“I’m incredibly proud of our three CFISD bands that competed today in the prelims of the UIL State Marching Band Contest,” said John Morrison, CFISD director of fine arts. “The students from Bridgeland, Cy-Fair and Cypress Woods were outstanding representatives of our Cypress-Fairbanks community. Congratulations to the Cy-Fair High School band on advancing to the finals competition Tuesday.”
Cy-Fair’s appearance in the 2025 state championship marks its ninth overall trip to state and fourth straight yearadvancing—a testament to the program’s strong leadership, dedicated student performers, and unwavering community support.
The Bobcat band earned its place at state by finishing among the top five bands at the highly competitive UIL Area I Marching Band Contest, held October 27 at Katy ISD’s Legacy Stadium. It’s a rigorous journey to reach this level, and one that demands year-round commitment, early morning rehearsals, weekend competitions, and hours of work from both students and their directors.
“I’m so proud of our students and the incredible effort they’ve put in all season,” said Joe Glass, CFISD coordinator of secondary music. “Their dedication and teamwork truly paid off!”
