Cy-Fair Helping Hands' Street Outreach Teams Forming
Cy-Fair Helping Hands’ (CFHH) dedication to serving the homeless in our community includes sharing information with the public about Street Outreach efforts in our area. On April 6th, there will be two opportunities (2:00pm and 7:00pm) to learn more about this outreach, how CFHH serves the homeless via Street Outreach programs, and how others can participate, touching the lives of the most vulnerable people living on the streets.
“As the cost of living rose, the number of people transitioning to living in their vehicles and on the streets rose,” said Janet Ryan, CFHH’s Executive Director. “This includes many families with children. Within CFISD, one in a hundred CFISD students are now registered as homeless, and this of course doesn’t count the homeless children that are not registered. It breaks out hearts to think of the number of children who now live in their family’s car.”
Cy-Fair Helping Hands Street Outreach program focuses on delivering necessities such as food and water, tents, and clothing to the homeless, along with friendship and support. This gives CFHH representatives the opportunity to check on the welfare of each person, offer information on additional resources, let them know of possible transportation to the CFHH Day Center, and deliver seasonally appropriate items. Donations for this program are provided by individuals, businesses, organizations, and churches, while the outreach is all done by volunteers.
