Cy-Fair Helping Hands Launches 2025 Thanksgiving Food Drive to Support Local Families

October 08 2025

As Thanksgiving approaches and families begin planning their holiday meals, many of our neighbors in Cypress are quietly struggling to put food on the table. This season, Cy-Fair Helping Hands is once again inviting the community to be part of something deeply meaningful—helping our neighbors facing hunger, hardship, and homelessness experience the comfort and dignity of a holiday meal.

The nonprofit, which has served the Cy-Fair community since 2010, is launching its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive in partnership with Faith Church. Donations are being accepted now through Friday, November 8, 2025 to provide Blessing Boxes—complete with grocery gift cards and shelf-stable holiday items—for local families experiencing food insecurity.

A Call to Action for Cypress Families, Churches, and Businesses

Donors are encouraged to provide $25–30 grocery gift cards for turkeys or hams (with receipt attached), as well as traditional holiday staples such as:

  • Stuffing mix and turkey gravy
  • Canned soups: cream of mushroom and cream of chicken
  • Chicken broth and instant mashed potatoes
  • Boxed macaroni and cheese
  • Canned vegetables: corn, green beans, peas, and sweet potatoes
  • Canned cranberry sauce
  • Pie ingredients: apple, cherry, or peach pie filling and Jiffy pie crust mix (boxed only)
  • Jiffy corn bread mix

All items can be delivered Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Faith Church, located at 7755 Fairbanks North Houston Rd, Houston, TX 77040.

A Growing Need in the Cy-Fair Community

According to Cy-Fair ISD, over 1,300 students in the district are currently identified as homeless. And approximately 52% of students across the district qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, highlighting widespread economic hardship and food insecurity.

Cy-Fair Helping Hands (CFHH) directly serves this population through a variety of programs. In 2024, the organization distributed more than 243,000 meals, supported 4,028 nights of shelter for families with children, and provided 2,223 backpacks and school supplies to students in need.

Even during a transitional year in which CFHH relocated its food pantry, the nonprofit remained a lifeline to thousands. Its Day Center welcomed more than 1,200 visitors, offering showers, laundry, meals, and connection. Meanwhile, volunteer-driven outreach delivered over 17,100 pounds of food to homebound clients and helped 111 children move from homelessness to stability.

How CFHH Helps Year-Round

Beyond the holidays, Cy-Fair Helping Hands supports families through:

  • Homeless outreach and prevention, including case management for families
  • Student support initiatives like Upward Progress and Lone Star College scholarships
  • A Community Garden, which donated over 2,100 lbs. of produce last year
  • Mental health counseling for clients
  • A weekly “Come As You Are” worship service, embracing community and spiritual care

With the support of individual donors, schools, churches, and businesses, CFHH continues to offer dignity, hope, and essential services to Cypress area residents living in crisis.

This Thanksgiving, every donation—no matter how small—becomes a powerful reminder that kindness still connects us. When we come together as neighbors, we do more than fill a pantry shelf; we fill homes with hope, gratitude, and the reassuring sense that no one in the Cypress area has to face the holidays alone.
