Cy-Fair Helping Hands Embarks on a New Chapter in Serving the Community

February 26 2024

Cy-Fair Helping Hands (CFHH), a beacon of hope for the homeless and hungry in northwest Harris County for over a decade, is on the move. The organization has announced its upcoming relocation from its current premises to its new home on 9204 Emmott Road, Houston TX 77040, effective March 25, 2024.

Founded in 2010, CFHH has devoted 14 impactful years to transforming lives of individuals and families from crisis to stability. The organization's commendable efforts encompass an array of services, including emergency shelter provision, food assistance via an active Food Pantry, family support through CFISD, and dedicated Street Outreach teams for the homeless.

CFHH's impending relocation springs from the necessity of a new ownership at the current facility. However, the Executive Director at CFHH, Janet Ryan, says, "The Emmott Road location will bring our programs closer to more people who need help. We will still be within CFISD and will still be serving the 14 zip codes of CFISD, just from a location a little further down 290."

Despite the relocation, CFHH’s dedication stands unshaken, as it continues to serve as the lifeline for thousands. In 2023 alone, a staggering 32,062 individuals received 543,342 pounds of food through the Cy-Fair Helping Hands food pantry. The organization provided 3,388 nights of shelter, ensuring that 48 children no longer had to endure the harsh conditions of the streets. CFHH also granted 840 Day Center visits for showers, laundry, fellowship and hot meals. Throughout 2023, they provided a total of 6,325 meals to the homeless through various initiatives like sack lunches, compassion bags, and hot meals.

Envisioning a future of continued service and growth, the new operations center at Emmott Road spans 10,000 square feet, offering ample space for all existing programs. Ryan adds, "Our mission of bringing hope to the homeless and hungry will simply expand as we move into this area."

Since its inception, CFHH has grown from a modest organization helping the homeless to a vital support system covering an array of community services. These include a Community Food Pantry, Emergency Shelter services, scholarships for underprivileged students, a Homeless Outreach, a Homeless Day Shelter, programs for homeless students, and various events during holidays and the back-to-school season.
