Cy-Fair Helping Hands 2025 Homeless Blessing Tree Brings Hope to the Homeless in Cypress

December 01 2025

As the holiday season wraps the community in twinkling lights and festive traditions, Cy-Fair Helping Hands (CFHH) is inviting residents to turn their holiday spirit outward with two compassionate outreach efforts: the annual Homeless Blessing Tree and the Gift of Warmth drive. These programs offer tangible ways for the Cypress and Cy-Fair community to directly impact the lives of homeless men, women, and children right here at home.

Homelessness remains a growing challenge in Northwest Houston, with over 3,300 people counted in the region during the 2025 Point-in-Time survey—1,282 of whom were living unsheltered. Right here in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (CFISD), more than 1,000 students are experiencing homelessness or housing instability. These numbers reflect what Cy-Fair Helping Hands sees daily: individuals and families in our own backyard facing hardship, but also holding onto hope.

One of CFHH’s most heartfelt annual traditions is the Homeless Blessing Tree, which ensures that every homeless visitor served through its Homeless Day Center receives a gift this Christmas. Each week, 50-60 individuals visit the Day Center for hot meals, showers, laundry, essential supplies, and fellowship. During the holidays, the center transforms into a place of joy where love is shared through carefully chosen gifts, fulfilling modest yet meaningful Christmas wishes.

Community members can take part in this mission by choosing a physical ornament from the Blessing Tree in the CFHH lobby, or selecting a virtual tag at bit.ly/blessingtree2025. Each ornament corresponds to a specific gift request—ranging from individual client needs (100s) to essential Day Center supplies (200s). These thoughtful gifts offer comfort, dignity, and a reminder that every person is seen and cared for this season.

A Mission Built on Compassion

Cy-Fair Helping Hands began with one woman and a pot of soup, serving from the back of a truck. Since 2010, the organization has expanded to serve over 243,000 meals annually, support hundreds of students with backpacks, award scholarships, and fund more than 4,000 nights of shelter for homeless families with children. The organization also provides mental health services, worship gatherings, emergency aid, and street outreach.

In 2024 alone, CFHH:

  • Provided 8,196 hot meals at the Day Center
  • Supported 1,211 children with toys and gift cards
  • Delivered 17,100 pounds of food to homebound clients
  • Received over 23,800 volunteer hours from dedicated community members

But their work is only possible through the generosity of neighbors like you. This Christmas, whether you donate a pair of gloves, fulfill a gift wish, or volunteer your time, you are helping make sure every neighbor in Cy-Fair feels supported, seen, and cared for this holiday season.
