Copperfield Dolphins 2026 Swim Season Registration Opens March 1 with Information Meeting at Autumn Laurel Park

February 19 2026

For many Copperfield families, summer doesn’t officially begin until the first whistle blows at swim practice. On Sunday, March 1, that tradition kicks off again as the Copperfield Dolphins Swim Team opens registration for the 2026 swim season and hosts an Information Meeting for new families at Autumn Laurel Park, 7750 Autumn Laurel Trail, Houston, TX 77095, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Whether your child is new to summer swim league or ready for another season in the pool, this meeting offers a chance to learn what being part of one of the area’s longest-standing swim teams is all about.

Families can find registration details and season information at copperfield.swimtopia.com

A Neighborhood Tradition Since 1980

The Copperfield Dolphins, officially registered as the Copperfield Swim Team Parents Association, is a not-for-profit summer swim team serving families in the Copperfield subdivision of Houston. Established in 1980, the Dolphins are one of the oldest swim teams in the area and compete in the Northwest Aquatic League (NWAL).

Open to swimmers ages 4–18, the team brings together children from Copperfield Place, Easton Commons, Middlegate, Northmead, Southcreek, Southdown and Westcreek. Families outside the seven Copperfield villages may also participate by paying an additional out-of-boundaries fee during registration.

Beyond competition, the Dolphins emphasize sportsmanship, individual improvement and community connection — values that have kept generations of families returning each summer.

What Families Can Expect This Season

The 2026 Copperfield Dolphins swim season includes:

  • Four days a week of practice (Tuesday through Friday)
  • Saturday dual meets against other NWAL teams
  • Optional invitational meets
  • Team community events and spirit activities
  • Divisional meet eligibility for swimmers who compete in at least two dual meets

Practices begin in mid-April and run through mid-June, taking place at Park Falls Pool (7703 Park Falls Drive, Houston, TX 77095) and Autumn Laurel Pool in Southcreek Village (7750 Autumn Laurel Trail, Houston, TX 77095).

Due to the size of the team, families are encouraged to walk, bike or carpool when possible and follow posted parking guidelines to be considerate of neighborhood residents.

Who Is Eligible to Join the Copperfield Dolphins?

To join the Copperfield Dolphins Swim Team, swimmers must:

  • Be between ages 4 and 18 as of May 1, 2026
  • Be water-safe and able to complete one unassisted length (25 yards) of the pool at Time Trials
  • Meet NWAL novice swimmer eligibility guidelines
  • Participate in at least two dual meets to qualify for the Divisional Meet

While swimmers do not need to be experts, the Dolphins are a competitive summer swim league and do not provide swim lessons. For safety, swimmers must be able to jump into the pool, exit without assistance, float on their back and propel themselves independently through the water.

Each swimmer will be required to float and propel themselves one full length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted during Time Trials. Swimmers unable to meet this requirement may request a partial refund according to the team’s pricing policy.

Parents of swimmers under age 12 must remain on site during meets.

Safety Comes First

As a member of the Northwest Aquatic League (NWAL), the Copperfield Dolphins have adopted the NWAL SafeKids Guidelines and also observe USA Swimming SafeSport Best Practice Guidelines.

Team policies prohibit physical, mental and verbal abuse, inappropriate touching and coach socialization with swimmers outside team-sponsored activities. Coaches are not permitted to give rides to swimmers, and any one-on-one interaction in non-public areas requires two adults present. Photography is not allowed in restricted areas behind the starting blocks.

Families with concerns are encouraged to report them immediately to a Team Representative or Board Member at copperfielddolphinstx@gmail.com

These measures reflect the league’s broader commitment to child safety and maintaining a secure environment for all participants.

Why Summer Swim Matters in Copperfield

For many Copperfield area families in Houston’s 77095 zip code, summer swim league is more than an extracurricular activity. It’s a way for children to stay active during the summer break, build confidence, strengthen water safety skills and form friendships within their own neighborhood.

The Copperfield Dolphins compete locally through NWAL, giving swimmers exposure to organized competition while maintaining a family-friendly environment close to home. From first-time 4-year-olds to graduating seniors, the team creates space for both personal growth and shared memories.

Spots traditionally fill quickly each year, and families are encouraged to register early once registration opens on March 1.
