June 27 2023

Construction of two new campuses in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is well underway.

Roy J. Sprague Jr. Middle School, CFISD's 20th middle school, is under construction in the Bridgeland community at 10611 Mason Road. Designed by IBI Group, the middle school is being built by S&P Construction Inc. with an estimated opening date of August 2023.

The new three-story middle school will be located on the Bridgeland Educational Village site, which consists of Bridgeland HS and Wells Elementary. The site is bordered on the west by the Grand Parkway and on the east by Mason Road. The new middle school will connect to Wells Elementary at the cafeteria.

Additionally, CFISD's 59th elementary school is under construction at the intersection of Miramesa Drive and West Road in the Miramesa subdivision. Designed by Huckabee and built by general contractor DivisionOne Construction, the $39.6 million project began construction in November 2022 and is scheduled to open in the 2024-2025 school year.

The project will consist of a new K-5 school with academic instruction areas, computer labs, art, science, and music classrooms, library, gymnasium, cafeteria, dining area with a stage platform and administrative offices. On-site improvements include faculty and visitor parking areas, drop-off areas for buses and automobiles, covered walkways, stormwater drainage, sanitary sewer infrastructure, and all associated utilities. Additional amenities include multiple aluminum walkway canopies, a concrete running track, multiple concrete parking lot areas, hardtops and open grass playing areas. Utilities are included for up to eight future portables on site.

Both projects are funded by the 2019 CFISD bond package.
