Constable Mark Herman Hosts Free Watermelon Giveaway July 9 at Atkinson Farms in Spring

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, starting at 10 a.m., Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Mark Herman will host his Annual Free Watermelon Giveaway at Atkinson Farms, located at 3217 Spring Cypress Road in Spring, Texas. The event will continue while supplies last, with one free, homegrown watermelon offered per family.
This annual giveaway serves as a refreshing way for families to beat the Texas heat while connecting with the deputies who serve their neighborhoods.
“Giving back to the community we serve is just another way our Constable invests back into the community,” organizers shared. “Come out and see the Constable and his deputies! It is an honor to serve your communities!”
The event also shines a spotlight on Atkinson Farms, a fourth-generation, family-owned farm nestled on the outskirts of Spring. With over 75 years of farming history, the Atkinsons have transformed their homestead into a local treasure—growing over 60 different vegetables year-round and supplying fresh produce to the Bayou City Farmers Market, The Woodlands Farmers Market, and their own on-site stand.
More than just a produce stop, Atkinson Farms offers a pick-your-own experience for strawberries and blackberries during their peak seasons. Visitors can grab a basket and roam the fields for ripe berries before browsing the farm store for unique local goods like homemade preserves, fresh cucumbers, yellow squash, and tomatoes.

The farm is open to the public from March 1 through October 31 and operates Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
