Community Feature: Steve Radack Community Center
Did you know that your local Steve Radack Community Center is a major hub for enriching activities for all ages? This community center is buzzing with activity everyday and ready for you to stop by!
Prior to the construction of the Steve Radack Community Center, the original community center for the Bear Creek community was opened in March 1986 under Commissioner Bob Eckels inside of the Addicks Reservoir in Bear Creek Pioneers Park. It was developed for meetings, conferences, seminars and other non-commercial activities and events for civic, social, business and service groups. The center averaged 4,000 to 5,000 participants a month and was a thriving community Center until it was devastated during both the 2016 Tax Day Flood and Hurricane Harvey in 2017.
Located at 18650 Clay Rd, Houston, TX 77084, the new 24,500 sq. ft. state-of-the-art Steve Radack Community Center was opened on May 27, 2021. It features seven classrooms, three large conference rooms, a 4,500-square-foot community hall, a kitchen area to support catered events, offices and administration spaces.
Events of all types are held at Steve Radack throughout the year, including educating programs hosted by local organizations like the 4-H Club and the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, craft groups, fitness and dance classes, games, low-impact modified sports, periodic pop-up vaccination clinics and special events. Programming is planned and provided by Harris County Precinct 4 free of charge for the public.
