A familiar holiday landmark will shine above Old Katy as The Dryer hosts the second annual Historic Katy Christmas Tree Lighting on Wednesday, December 2, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. Families, friends and neighbors can gather for a shared countdown before the Christmas tree atop the historic JV Cardiff Rice Dryer lights up the evening sky.
For decades, the elevated tree welcomed people home to Katy during the Christmas season. Its lights returned in 2025 for the first time since 1999, renewing a tradition that connects longtime residents with families discovering it for the first time.
