Christ Covenant Church Prepares to Open Doors to Newly Renovated Facility in Copperfield

January 28 2025

For over three decades, Christ Covenant Church has been a cornerstone of the Copperfield area, bringing people together for fellowship, support, and a sense of belonging. Now, after years of planning and months of construction, the church is preparing to unveil its long-awaited facility renovation and expansion.

The project, estimated at $3.3 million, encompasses 17,000 square feet of modernized space, tailored to meet the needs of the growing congregation and the surrounding community. Construction is expected to be completed by early March 2025.

“This expansion has been a labor of love for everyone involved,” said Senior Pastor Ryan Weems. “We’ve seen our community grow so much in the past few years, and this new space will allow us to better serve not just our members but also anyone in the area who’s looking for a place to connect.”

Christ Covenant Church’s story is one of steady growth. When Pastor Ryan Weems stepped into his role in 2017, the church had a small but dedicated membership of 40 people. Fast forward to today, and more than 500 people now call Christ Covenant their home.

“It’s incredible to see how far we’ve come,” Weems shared. “The Copperfield area has such a diverse and vibrant community, and we’ve worked hard to create a place where everyone feels welcome, whether they’re here for the first time or they’ve been with us for years.”

The church has made a name for itself with its family-friendly atmosphere and its focus on children’s and youth programs. Events like seasonal celebrations, community outreach initiatives, and regular Sunday gatherings have drawn families from all over the area.

“We’re not just a building or a service,” Weems explained. “We’re a community of people who care deeply about one another, and we’re excited to see how this new space will bring us even closer.”

Soft and Grand Opening Celebrations

The community won’t have to wait long to see the renovated facility in action. Christ Covenant Church is hosting a Soft Opening Celebration on Sunday, February 16, 2025, with services at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The event will give members and guests a first look at the new space and a chance to celebrate the culmination of years of effort.

Just two weeks later, on Sunday, March 2, 2025, the church will host its official Grand Opening Celebration. The event promises fun for the whole family, featuring food trucks, a snow cone truck, bouncy houses for kids, grand prizes, and even free church merchandise. Services will also be held at 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

“This is about more than just cutting a ribbon,” Weems said. “It’s a chance to celebrate everything this community has accomplished together. We’re throwing a party, and everyone’s invited!”

During the construction process, Christ Covenant has been meeting at the Langham Creek Family YMCA, just across the street from its Longenbaugh Drive campus. The temporary move hasn’t slowed the church’s momentum—instead, it’s created a sense of anticipation for what’s to come.

“Meeting at the YMCA has been a unique experience, but it’s reminded us that a church isn’t about the building—it’s about the people,” Weems noted. “That said, we’re thrilled to be returning to a space that’s truly our own, designed with our future in mind.”

The newly renovated facility will include updated spaces for children’s programs, multi-use rooms for community events, and modern amenities to create a welcoming environment for all. The church plans to use the space not just for weekly gatherings but also as a hub for community outreach and events.

“We want this to be a place where people feel at home,” Weems said. “Whether you’re looking to meet new friends, volunteer in the community, or just spend time with your family in a positive environment, we hope you’ll find that here.”

As the finishing touches are placed on the new facility, the excitement is palpable among both members and staff. For Christ Covenant Church, the expansion isn’t just about bricks and mortar—it’s about building something that will serve the community for years to come.
