Champions Park Community Garden Work Begins By Neighborhood Tennis Courts
Champions Park is getting a new place for neighbors to dig in, grow something of their own and spend a little more time outdoors.
Work is now underway on a new community garden in Champions Park, with the project taking shape in the field near the neighborhood tennis courts. Residents may notice fencing and other site-preparation activity as the area is readied for its new purpose.
For a community already home to shared recreational amenities, the garden will introduce something a little different: a neighborhood space centered on growing, gathering and enjoying the outdoors.
Community Garden Planned Near Champions Park Tennis Courts
The Champions Park community garden is being developed in the field by the tennis courts, making use of an area near an existing neighborhood amenity.
Fencing is among the first visible signs of progress at the site as preparations continue.
While the garden is beginning to take shape, details about exactly how residents will be able to use it have not yet been announced. Information about garden plots, participation, rules and an opening date is expected as the project moves forward.
A New Kind of Neighborhood Amenity
Community gardens can offer residents space to grow vegetables, herbs, flowers and other plants while also creating a natural gathering point for neighbors with a shared interest in gardening.
For Champions Park, the project has the potential to add another way for residents to enjoy their neighborhood beyond traditional recreational spaces.
