CFISD Track and Field Athletes Qualify for 2023 UIL State MeetÂ

CFISD track and field teams will send six boys’ entries and five girls’ entries to the UIL Track and Field State Meet, May 11-13 at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas in Austin. The Class 6A events will be May 13. Athletes qualified after placing in their respective events at the Region II-6A meet at Waco Midway High School and Region III-6A meet at Humble ISD’s Turner Stadium.
Cypress Park High School junior Sydnee Burr qualified for the UIL Track and Field State Meet after placing second in the long jump at the Region II-6A meet.

Langham Creek High School senior Jaquaize Petteway qualified for the UIL Track and Field State Meet in two events, finishing first in the 200-meter dash and second in the 100-meter dash at the Region II-6A meet.

The following girls qualified for the Class 6A state meet:
-
Cypress Ridge’s Rylee Hampton:
- placed first in the 100-meter hurdles (13.58); and
- placed first in the 300-meter hurdles (42.43);
- Bridgeland’s Lillan Harden placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (13.74);
- Cypress Ranch’s Celeste Robinson placed second in the 100-meter dash (11.34); and
- Cypress Park’s Sydnee Burr placed second in the long jump (19-10).

The following boys qualified for the Class 6A state meet:
-
Bridgeland’s Benjamin Montgomery placed first in the 3,200-meter run (9:18.99);
- Cypress Falls’ Jairius Burton placed second in the 110-meter hurdles (13.72);
- Langham Creek’s Jaquaize Petteway:
- placed second in the 100-meter dash (10.27); and
- placed first in the 200-meter dash (20.51);
- Langham Creek’s Alex Ornelas placed first in the 300-meter hurdles (36.93); and
- Cypress Woods’ Terrance Green placed second in the shot put (52-6.5).
