CFISD Student of the Week: Sara Sanchez
Goodson Middle School seventh grade student Sara Sanchez is praised by her teachers for always having a fun and positive attitude.
School: Goodson Middle School | Age: 13 | Grade: 7
Accomplishments: Sanchez is regarded as a fun student to be around and constantly has her classmates and teachers laughing. She is a captain for her Science Olympiad team and last year earned a medal at the State Science Olympiad competition in Electric Wright Stuff. She also competed with a team of girls at the Girls’ Exploring Math and Science event at the Houston Museum of Natural Science where she and her team earned second place with their presentation on germs. Sanchez is also regarded as a hard worker.
Favorite class: “Science and Texas History are my favorite classes because my teachers are fun, funny and make the lessons interesting.”
Favorite things to do after class: “When I’m not at school, I love to read, play with my cats and watch TV.”
Favorite song: “Si No Es Ahora Cuándo by Daniel Rosado, Paulo Sánchez Lima, Santiago Saez, El Purre and Simón Hempe.”
Favorite website/app: “I love the Libby app, because I can download books from the Harris County Library. I love to read fantasy and mystery books.”
Favorite TV show: “I love Go! Vive a Tu Manera. It’s a new show that has great music and has a lot of the same actors from my favorite telenovela, Intertwined.”
Favorite movie: “I don’t currently have a favorite movie, but I’m waiting for Keeper of the Lost Cities to come out as a movie.”
Ambition: “I hope to become a biochemist that works on finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes. I have many friends to have been diagnosed with Type 1 and I want to make an impact on those lives.”
What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I love epidemiology, music and being outside. I love to walk in the park while listening to music.”
What inspires you?: “Music and books. I am amazed and inspired by the creativity of others.”
What three things can’t you live without?: “Family, friends and my pets.”
What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “I’m looking forward to Destination Imagination and Science Olympiad competitions.”
