CFISD Student of the Week: Martha Ferrer

October 10 2022

Cypress Falls High School junior Martha Ferrer is a yell leader and supporter of the Golden Eagles. She has been able to balance work, school and her obligations to organizations, as shown by her strong finish as a sophomore moving into the 2022-2023 school year.

School: Cypress Falls High School   |   Age: 17   |   Grade: 11

Accomplishments: Ferrer has been able to balance her classes, work outside school and multiple organizations at Cypress Falls. She’s continuing to achieve academically after finishing strong during the 2021-2022 school year.

Favorite class: “My favorite class is Ceramics and Sculpture. I love it because it’s a place where I can let off some steam while letting my creative side flow. I also love the environment and I always feel at peace when I walk through the classroom door.”

Favorite things to do after class: “Hang out with my friends. I love my friends dearly, as they’re the type of people who never drain my social battery. When I’m with them I feel so happy and content.”

Favorite song: “My favorite song never stays the same to be honest. At the moment though, I really like this song called Bloom by The Paper Kites.”

Favorite website/app: “As much as I hate to admit it, my favorite app is TikTok. I just think it’s so entertaining and it does such a good job at giving me a mental break.”

Favorite TV Show: “I have so many favorite shows but if I had to choose one to watch forever it’d be Vampire Diaries. That show is my comfort show and every time I watch it, I love it even more. The storyline is so good and the actors did a really good job at being one with their characters.”

Favorite movie: “My favorite movie is hands down Top Gun: Maverick. I love it because of how realistic it was. I also love the cinematography and on top of that, it’s the movie my brother and I bonded through. It was one of the ways we got closer.”

Ambition: “My ambition is to be successful enough to raise a family comfortably. I still don’t know what I really want to be when I grow up but I know that no matter what, my family will be my focus. Growing up, I didn’t have the best family life, so when I raise my family I want to make sure they never have to go through any of the struggles I went through.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I’m very passionate about my faith. I truly believe that I wouldn’t have the blessed life I have without God orchestrating it. God does so much for me and my family even when we don’t deserve it, so I try to repay Him by spreading His word so more people can feel God’s love the way I do.”

What inspires you?: “My siblings inspire me. They’ve played a big part in my upbringing and for that I look up to them so much. My sister and brother are so strong and resilient, they’re the reason I believe in being able to overcome anything and come out even stronger than ever.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “My Bible, my sister and my brother.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “I’m so excited for all the football, volleyball and basketball games I’ll go to as a yell leader. I love being a Yell Leader and being such a fun but also competitive environment. I can’t wait to go to more games, show my pride and cheer for Cy Falls.”
