CFISD Seeks Mentors and Tutors to Help Students Succeed as 2025-26 School Year Nears
With the 2025-26 school year quickly approaching on August 13, 2025, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD (CFISD) is calling on local residents, business leaders, and community partners to help students thrive through two powerful volunteer opportunities: the CFISD Mentor Program and the Parent and Community Tutors Program (imPACT).
Both initiatives aim to inspire students—from elementary through high school—to stay engaged in school, explore future education and career paths, and develop the skills needed for lifelong success.
Mentors: Role Models for the Future
The CFISD Mentor Program matches students with caring adults from local businesses, faith-based organizations, nonprofits, and the wider community. Mentors meet one-on-one with students for about 30 minutes each week on campus. Their role isn’t limited to academics but extends to building positive relationships, encouraging personal growth, and fostering self-confidence.

According to national data from MENTOR, youth with a mentor are 55% more likely to enroll in college and 78% more likely to volunteer themselves, while mentors often report increased patience, empathy, and a sense of purpose from their experience. These outcomes highlight why CFISD is actively recruiting mentors now—because proven, one-on-one relationships like these have the power to change the trajectory of a student’s education and future.
imPACT Tutors: Strengthening Reading and Math Skills
For those who enjoy academics, CFISD also offers the Parent and Community Tutors Program (imPACT). Tutors work with students to improve reading and math skills, focusing on skill-building and instilling a love for learning.
No teaching experience is required—only a commitment to make a difference. Tutors receive training and support from CFISD and meet with students for about 30 minutes per week.
