CFISD Seeking More Teachers as Harris County Continues to Grow

March 14 2024

Calling all educators and prospective school district employees! You are cordially invited to attend the upcoming Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District (CFISD) Career Fair, scheduled for April 17, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m at the Berry Center. The doors will open at 3:45 p.m, welcoming guests to explore exciting career opportunities with the third largest school district in Texas and 21st-largest in the United States.

The theme for the Career Fair this year is "Join Our CFISD Family and Bring Out the Best in Our Students!”, a reflection of CFISD's commitment to developing its employees into effective catalysts for student success.

With over 19,000 employees, CFISD is a significant employer in northwest Harris County, and it's growing rapidly. Having hired more than 1,500 teachers in the last school year, CFISD continues to seek qualified and certified teaching candidates for the 2024-2025 school year. The starting salary for teachers is $62,000, and the district also offers a competitive benefits package.

Positions in high demand include bilingual teachers, special education teachers, secondary math, science, and English teachers, LIFE Skills teachers, nurses, diagnosticians, speech pathologists, librarians, and career and technical education instructors.

But teaching isn't the only area of opportunity. The Career Fair will also showcase departments like the CFISD police, maintenance, operations, transportation, technology, nutrition services, guidance and counseling, part-time event staff at the Berry Center, the substitute office, community programs, and paraprofessionals.

The Career Fair offers an excellent interface for prospective employees to interact with district administrators. Among those in attendance this year will be Katie Herrera, the principal at Pope Elementary School, and Fernando Zambrano, the assistant director of human resources for transportation.

Be a part of a thriving learning community that is dedicated to the LEAD vision: Learn. Empower. Achieve. Dream. For more information on the Career Fair, visit the CFISD website.
