CFISD Names New Principal for Pope Elementary School
Katie Herrera, assistant principal at Pope Elementary School, was named the principal at Pope on Nov. 18. Herrera replaces Elizabeth Bradley, who was named the inaugural principal for CFISD Middle School No. 20.
Herrera has 22 years of experience in education, all in CFISD. She began her career as a third grade teacher at Ault Elementary School in 2000, where she also taught fourth grade until 2006. She then became an instructional specialist at Jowell Elementary School, serving in that role for a year. Herrera then moved to Owens Elementary School, where she served as an assistant principal for six years. She helped open Pope as an assistant principal in 2013 and has served in that role since.
Herrera earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas Tech University and her Master in Education from the University of Houston.
“I am honored to be selected to serve as the principal of Pope Elementary School,” Herrera said. “We will continue growing the established Pope family culture and striving for success for all students. As a proud Pope Panther, I am eager to partner with the Pope community to keep building the tradition of excellence.”
