CFISD Names New Principal for Cypress Woods High School
Lloyd Turner, principal at Aragon Middle School, was named the principal at Cypress Woods High School on Nov. 9. Turner replaces Gary Kinninger, who will retire in December.
Turner is in his 14th year in education, all of which have been in CFISD. His career began as an adaptive behavior teacher at Hamilton Middle School before moving to Arnold Middle School, where he spent five years as a seventh and eighth grade science teacher.
He then served as a campus content instructional specialist at Labay Middle School before moving into administration, helping open Cypress Park High School as an assistant principal. Turner was named to his current role as principal at Aragon in 2020.
Throughout his CFISD career, Turner has participated in extensive training opportunities and has led professional development for other educators.
Turner earned his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and Master of Education in Administration from Prairie View A&M University.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to be entrusted with the privilege of serving as principal of Cypress Woods High School,” Turner said. “The 212 spirit has always been at the heart of this school and I am excited to join forces with the incredible students, staff and parents to uphold this tradition. Together we will build upon the rich legacy of excellence while creating the best experiences for our students.”
