CFISD Board Approves 2024-2025 Instructional Calendar
The CFISD Board of Trustees approved an amended version of the calendar committee’s recommendations for the 2024-2025 instructional calendar during its regularly scheduled meeting on Feb. 12.
Board passage of a District of Innovation plan in January enabled an exemption to a state law mandating that instruction for the school year may not begin before the fourth Monday in August—allowing for a more flexible calendar.
In December and January, a calendar committee was organized to develop a calendar for the 2024-2025 school year. The committee was made up of districtwide representation, including teachers, parents, community members, campus administrators and support staff. The calendar must include a minimum of 75,600 minutes to complete a school year required by law.
The committee also sought input from the Districtwide Educational Improvement Council (DEIC) and the Superintendent’s Student Leadership Committee (SSLC), and through a survey distributed to parents, employees and community members. More than 26,000 surveys were completed.
The committee recommended a calendar to the school board that will conclude the 2024-2025 school year on May 29, 2025.

- a five-day spring break is scheduled for March 10-14, 2025;
- Good Friday, April 18, 2025, is a student/staff holiday;
- Memorial Day, May 26, 2025, is a student/staff holiday;
- the school year will end on May 29, 2025 for students;
- the calendar features two teacher work days/school closure make-up days that are also student holidays: Nov. 5, 2024; and April 21, 2025; and
- Feb. 18 and April 21, 2025 are designated as inclement weather makeup days.
