Brookwood Community to Host Christmas Open House Dec. 1 and 2

November 16 2023

Get in the holiday spirit at The Brookwood Community with their upcoming Christmas Open House.

On Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2, The Brookwood Community will host a delightful celebration of all things Christmas with holiday shopping, delicious food, and entertainment for the entire family. All proceeds benefit the Brookwood Community, an innovative nonprofit based in Brookshire that provides an educational environment while creating meaningful work, building a sense of belonging, and awakening genuine purpose in the lives of adults with disabilities.

At 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, guests are invited to the Citizen Christmas Program to enjoy an hour of Christmas cheer as the Brookwood Handbell Ensemble plays holiday favorites and Citizens perform an original play.

Savor a delicious buffet lunch at the award-winning Brookwood Café from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Relax with family-style seating without the need for a reservation. Lunch offerings will include stations featuring tacos, pulled pork, lemon chicken, soup and salad, and beignets. The breakfast buffet will also be available from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday and Saturday.

Shop at Brookwood's inspiring Gift & Garden Center for hand-crafted Citizen-made products, holiday décor and unique gifts and purchase many colors of beautiful poinsettias. Shopping at Brookwood helps underwrite their mission and provides meaningful work for adults with disabilities.

Take a beautiful family photo in Brookwood's stunning Citizen-grown poinsettia backdrop. Did you know that Brookwood Citizens are famous for growing poinsettias? The Brookwood Horticulture enterprise produces approximately 50,000 poinsettias a year and provides meaningful work to over 100 adults with disabilities. Citizens are passionate about nurturing the vibrant poinsettias and take great pride in producing a quality product for customers to enjoy. Volunteers will be available to help take your photo among the beautiful poinsettias on your phone.

Rest your feet and get inspired by a showing of "Finding Purpose: The Brookwood Story", a documentary film that portrays The Brookwood Community's remarkable story. Earlier this year, the film premiered during a special event at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts on January 26. Showings will take place at the Brookwood Worship Center on Friday at 11:30 AM and Saturday at 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM.

Take a campus tour by bus to explore the Brookwood Community campus. Buses depart from the Cafetorium at 11:00 AM, Noon, 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM. Maps will also be available for self-guided walking tour, with prizes for filled passports.

Bring the whole family to the Brookwood Community on December 1 or 2 for a day of merriment with a purpose. For more information, visit the Brookwood Community website.
