A Musical Masterpiece

Evita tells the compelling story of Eva Perón, the ambitious and charismatic wife of Argentine dictator Juan Perón. Set against the backdrop of Argentina between 1934 and 1952, the musical charts Eva’s journey from her humble beginnings as an illegitimate child to her rise as a celebrated actress, First Lady of Argentina, and controversial political figure.

The narrative unfolds through a sung-through musical format, with commentary provided by the show’s narrator, Che. Featuring iconic songs such as “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Buenos Aires,” and “Another Suitcase in Another Hall,”the production explores themes of ambition, legacy, and the complexities of power.

Since its debut in 1978, Evita has captivated audiences around the world. Its original Broadway production, starring Patti LuPone as Eva and Mandy Patinkin as Che, won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical has been revived numerous times on stage and adapted into a 1996 film starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas.

Delka, with assistance from Allison Christian and student director Addison Gully, is known for its dedication to delivering high-quality theatrical productions.
