Bridgeland Expands with Terrapin Park and Nearly 40 Acres of New Parks, Green Spaces, and Recreation
Continuing its goal of integrating nature and wellness into everyday living, Bridgeland, one of Houston’s fastest-growing master-planned communities by Howard Hughes, has announced the development of nearly 40 acres of new parks, trails, and greenspaces across its villages. The latest centerpiece of this expansion is Terrapin Park, a 14-acre amenity-rich destination coming to Creekland Village in summer 2026.
The announcement follows last year’s reveal of five eco-focused parks including Turtle Cove, Lily Pad Park, and Mosaic Park in Creekland Village, and Mariposa Park and Sunfish Park in Prairieland Village—all part of Bridgeland’s ongoing effort to ensure that every resident is within a quarter mile of a park or green space.
“A core element of our long-term approach to sustainable master planning is considering how each design decision will impact and improve our residents’ quality of life,” said Steve Sams, Senior Vice President, MPC Residential at Howard Hughes. “By dedicating 28% of Bridgeland’s master plan to parks and greenspace, we’re creating spaces that enhance resident health and well-being, ensuring Bridgeland remains a thriving community for generations to come.”

Terrapin Park: The Heart of Creekland Village
Situated along a scenic riparian greenbelt in Creekland Village, Terrapin Park will be Bridgeland’s fourth village park and is designed as a hub for community wellness, recreation, and connection. The park will feature a community centerwith capacity for up to 160 guests, two swimming pools, state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor fitness facilities, and covered pavilions with outdoor kitchens and grilling stations.
Outdoor recreation will include tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts, all set against a backdrop of preserved natural space. Construction is set to begin in April 2025, with an expected completion in summer 2026.
Green Infrastructure and Community Connectivity
Bridgeland’s latest green space additions are designed with sustainability and stormwater management in mind. The Turtle Cove riparian corridor, spanning nearly 16 acres, will help improve air and water quality while attracting an estimated 300 migratory bird species to the region. At the heart of the corridor is Lily Pad Park, the village’s first major gathering space, featuring a shaded 50-seat pavilion, a dog run, playground, and courts for casual sports.
Nearby, Mosaic Park, located less than a mile away, will offer a vibrant, tree-lined retreat with a tiered pavilion and colorful, family-friendly play area.

Parks Take Shape in Prairieland Village
In neighboring Prairieland Village, two new parks—Mariposa Park and Sunfish Park—are scheduled to open this spring. Designed to reflect the native prairie landscape, both parks will include shaded pavilions, playgrounds, and ample open space for exploration and relaxation. Sunfish Park will also include a splash pad, while both parks will add to the ecological diversity already present in the area, which includes the 22-acre Chrysalis Lake and Longwing Landing amenity center.
A Legacy of Green Living in Cypress
With each new addition, Bridgeland continues to raise the bar for nature-integrated master planning in the Cypress area. From the flood-resilient design of its riparian corridors to the emphasis on recreational wellness amenities, the development reflects a balance between natural preservation and active living.
As development continues, new parks in Creekland and Prairieland Villages will add to Bridgeland’s growing network of trails, play areas, and gathering spots. While each space offers something different—from shaded pavilions and splash pads to walking paths and native landscaping—they all support the broader goal of keeping outdoor spaces easily accessible to residents of all ages.
