Bridgeland, Cy Creek, Cy Ranch Win Inaugural District Water Polo Titles; 16 Teams Enter Playoffs

The District 16-6A and District 17-6A water polo seasons ended on Oct. 7 with 16 CFISD teams qualifying for the inaugural UIL playoffs.

Bridgeland High School won the girls’ District 16-6A championship with a 10-0 record in district play. Cypress Ranch High School finished two games behind to claim the second seed, while Langham Creek High School went 6-4 in league play to earn the third seed.
 
The Bridgeland High School girls’ water polo team won the District 16-6A Championship with a 10-0 record in
league play. The Bears are the top seed heading into the postseason and receive a bi-district bye.
 

Cypress Springs High School went 4-6 in district play to finish fourth.

The following 16-6A girls’ teams will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Bridgeland received a bye.
  • Cypress Ranch will face Spring Woods on Monday, Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium (12550 Windfern Road).
  • Langham Creek will meet Stratford on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium.
  • Cypress Springs will face Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.m. at the Spring Branch ISD Natatorium (10404 Tiger Trail).
Cypress Ranch won the boys’ 16-6A championship with a 10-0 record in district play.Bridgeland finished with an 8-2 record to earn the second seed. Cypress Springs and Langham Creek both finished with identical 5-5 marks in league play, with the Panthers earning the third seed and the Lobos earning the fourth seed.
 
The Cypress Ranch High School boys’ water polo team won the District 16-6A Championship. The Mustangs posted
a 10-0 record in league play to earn the top seed going into the postseason. They will meet Springs Woods
on Monday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium.
 

The following 16-6A boys’ teams will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Cypress Ranch will meet Springs Woods on Monday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium.
  • Bridgeland will face Stratford on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium.
  • Cypress Springs will meet Memorial on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Spring Branch ISD Natatorium.
  • Langham Creek will face Strake Jesuit on Monday, Oct 10 at 7:15 p.m. at Strake Jesuit High School (8900 Bellaire Blvd.).

The Cypress Creek High School girls’ water polo team won the District 17-6A Championship. The Cougars posted a
10-0 record in league play to earn the top seed going into the playoffs. They received a bye in the bi-district round.
 
Cypress Ridge High School and Cy-Fair High School both finished 3-7 in district play and the Bobcats won a tiebreaker to finish fourth.
 

The following 17-6A girls’ teams will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

  • Cypress Creek received a bye.
  • Jersey Village will meet Fort Bend Kempner on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium.
  • Cypress Woods will face Fort Bend Austin on Monday, Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. at Fort Bend ISD’s Don Cook Natatorium (16255 Lexington Blvd.) in Sugar Land.
  • Cy-Fair will meet Fort Bend Travis on Tuesday, Oct 11 at 5 p.m. at Fort Bend ISD’s Don Cook Natatorium.

Jersey Village High School senior Casey Krieger and the Falcons earned the second seed in District 17-6A after
posting an 8-2 record. They will open the postseason against Fort Bend Kempner on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
at the CFISD Natatorium.

  • Jersey Village will face Fort Bend Kempner on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the CFISD Natatorium.
  • Cypress Woods will meet Fort Bend Travis on Monday, Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Fort Bend ISD’s Don Cook Natatorium.
  • Cypress Ridge will face Fort Bend Austin on Tuesday, Oct 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Fort Bend ISD’s Don Cook Natatorium.

Cypress Springs High School junior Gwendolyn Tompkins and the Panthers earned the fourth seed in District 16-6A.
They will face Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 5 p.n. at Spring Branch ISD’s Natatorium.
