The pioneering concept behind Bricks & Minifigs rests on three pillars: Rebuild, Reuse, and Reimagine. They offer an abundance of LEGO® pieces for fans to replenish or enhance their existing collections or to reconstruct cherished childhood sets. Their Reuse principle emphasizes the store's commitment to buying, selling, and trading anything LEGO® brand, while the Reimagine concept encourages customers to construct their own masterpiece straight from their imagination.
Bricks & Minifigs began its journey as an unassuming dream of David Ortiz in 2003. As a stay-at-home father of twin boys, Ortiz believed there should be a safe, convenient place for families to buy, sell, and trade LEGO® items. This vision became a reality when he met John Masek in 2009. With Masek's extensive retail experience and Ortiz's knowledge, the duo founded Bricks & Minifigs in 2010. The company started franchising in 2011 and boasted more than 41 stores in the US and Canada by 2018.
The LEGO® brand itself carries a rich history. The name 'LEGO' is derived from the Danish words “leg godt”, meaning “play well”. Founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Kristiansen, LEGO® started as a small carpenter’s workshop but has transformed into a global enterprise and one of the world’s largest toy manufacturers. Despite numerous developments over the years, the traditional LEGO brick—which was launched in its current form in 1958—remains the company's most important and iconic product. Thanks to its unique interlocking principle, it offers unlimited building possibilities, fueling creativity through play.
