Brautigam Center, The Met, Cy-Fair Christian Churches Establish Adopt-A-School PartnershipÂ
Representatives from The Met Church’s The HUB and Cy-Fair Christian Church visited the staff at the Leonard Brautigam Center on Feb. 20 to officially announce their Adopt-a-School partnerships with the campus.
CFISD’s Adopt-a-School program pairs schools with community organizations and business partners to utilize resources of the community to strengthen and enrich the quality of education for students.
The moment was even more special for Martha Strother, Brautigam Center principal, and her staff, as the campus was not only adopted by one community partner, but two.
Both faith-based organizations already serve the Brautigam Center through volunteerism and mentorship. The Met Church and the school sit right next to each other on Jones Road, and The HUB, a community center, is right across the street. Cy-Fair Christian Church is less than two miles away.
“This is one of those things we’ve been looking forward to for a long time,” said Matt Roberson, lead pastor at The Met Church. “For us, it really is about contributing to the welfare of the city and we want to lift our city. I know that’s part of why educators do what they do but it’s also part of why we do what we do, so there’s a joint mission in that. We can’t wait for what the future holds.”
Said Kevin Gallemore, community pastor at Cy-Fair Christian Church: “The schools are the foundation of our community. So raising up this next generation, serving and caring for them, and being the boots on the ground with the teachers is something we’ve wanted for some time. It’s a blessing to us and we hope to be a blessing to these teachers and administrators in their work because it’s a challenging job but one of the most important jobs in the lives of these children.”
Strother expressed her gratitude for both partners and their commitment to helping play an integral part in the education process.
“Our mission is about helping young people become the best version of themselves in spite of their life circumstances,” she said. “That two churches are wanting to become an official part of this school community says everything about how well we’ve communicated that mission of Brautigam Center.”
