For one day, some of the most enthusiastic swimmers at Big Rivers Waterpark will arrive on four paws.

WaterBARK Day returns to the New Caney attraction on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, inviting Houston-area dog owners to bring their pups for a day built around swimming, exercise and canine socializing. Admission is $10 per dog, while owners accompanying their dogs enter free. Big Rivers' dedicated event listing currently gives the event hours as 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Located at 23101 State Highway 242 in New Caney, Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures is within an easy drive for many families across Montgomery County and the Greater Houston area. WaterBARK Day offers those families a decidedly different way to spend a Sunday together, particularly for dogs that rarely get the opportunity to experience something on the scale of a waterpark.

A Waterpark Day Designed for Dogs

Instead of watching their human family members head toward the water, dogs get their turn during WaterBARK Day.

Select areas of the park will become dog-friendly play spaces where pups can cool off, explore the water and socialize. Big Rivers is promoting dog-only splash zones, shallow play areas, photo opportunities and treat stations as part of the 2026 event.

Event information also identifies the wave pool, Hatchling Hill kiddie area and splash pad among the areas planned for canine play. Big Rivers' Boca Chica Bay is the park's wave pool, while Hatchling Hill is normally designed as a water-play area for the park's youngest human visitors.

Tickets cost $10 per dog, with owners admitted free alongside their pups. According to the event information provided by Big Rivers, guests may bring a maximum of two dogs per person, and dog handlers must be at least 16 years old.

Participating dogs must have proof of current vaccinations for rabies, distemper and parvo. Owners also need a signed WaterBARK Day waiver and their dog's event ticket at check-in.

Big Rivers states that dogs without the required vaccination documentation and signed waiver will not be admitted. The park is also offering pre-registration, allowing owners to upload the signed waiver and vaccination records ahead of time to help make event-day check-in faster. For families planning to attend, gathering those veterinary records now could save a disappointing trip to the gate on Sunday.
