With Thanksgiving and Christmas approaching, local churches, nonprofits and first responders across Spring, New Caney and Conroe are preparing to help families put food on the table, provide gifts for children and make the holidays a little brighter for neighbors facing financial challenges.
Several organizations have announced their 2026 holiday outreach efforts, offering opportunities for residents to donate food, volunteer their time or support families who could use a helping hand. For those needing assistance themselves, many of these organizations also provide services throughout the year.
From Thanksgiving meal boxes and community food drives to Christmas toys and holiday gatherings, there are several ways to get involved. Some assistance programs have already reached registration capacity, making it especially important for families to check availability before visiting.
Here is a closer look at confirmed 2026 holiday food drives, toy collections and community assistance programs in the Spring, New Caney and Conroe areas, including how to help and where to turn for assistance.
New Caney Holiday Food Drive Returns October 24 to Support Mission Northeast and H-Town Dream Center
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is joining local first responders for the 10th Annual Holiday Food Drive on Saturday, October 24, 2026, benefiting two organizations that provide assistance to families in northeast Harris and Montgomery counties: Mission Northeast and H-Town Dream Center.
Community members are encouraged to bring nonperishable food, household cleaning products and personal hygiene supplies to the main collection location outside Academy Sports + Outdoors at the Valley Ranch Shopping Center, 21770 Market Place Drive in New Caney, near the intersection of Grand Parkway and US 59.
The event is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m., according to Mission Northeast's official event calendar.
Mission Northeast has identified several items that are especially helpful during the holiday season, including stuffing mix, canned yams, gravy packets, canned chicken broth and canned frosting. Everyday pantry staples such as peanut butter, jelly, pasta, rice, beans and canned meats are also needed, along with soap, toothpaste, deodorant and laundry detergent.
Donations can also be delivered to participating first responder locations before the event.
For those unfamiliar with Mission Northeast, the organization has been serving local families for more than 30 years. What began as a small church food pantry in Kingwood in 1995 expanded into a nonprofit that moved to its current New Caney location in 2000.
Today, Mission Northeast provides free groceries, clothing, household assistance and personal guidance through its Care Partner program. Its work extends beyond food distributions, helping residents navigate difficult circumstances such as job loss, illness, housing instability and other unexpected hardships.
Families seeking assistance can visit Mission Northeast at 22098 Loop 494 in New Caney during client service hours, Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Residents should check the organization's service area and documentation requirements before visiting.
The organization serves designated ZIP codes in northeast Harris and Montgomery counties, including New Caney, Porter, Kingwood, Splendora and surrounding communities.
Those interested in volunteering can also help with food pantry operations, clothing distribution and special community projects throughout the year.
For more information about the October 24 food drive, contact Sgt. Miller at 281-577-8971 or visit Mission Northeast's official event page.

Spring Church Aims to Provide Thanksgiving Meals for 200 Families on November 21
In Spring, CLC Church is inviting residents to help provide Thanksgiving meals for 200 families through its annual Thanksgiving Outreach, scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The church, located at 3031 FM 2920 Road, is collecting nonperishable food items to assemble Thanksgiving meal boxes for households in need.
Requested donations include stuffing or cornbread mix, instant potatoes, macaroni and cheese, canned corn, green beans, yams, cranberry sauce, gravy, marshmallows and disposable turkey pans.
The deadline to donate food is Wednesday, November 18. Items may be dropped off at The Table or at the Next Steps booth in the church's front lobby. Monetary contributions are also accepted.
Volunteers are needed on November 21 to help pack boxes, distribute meals and assist families during the outreach event.
CLC Church, also known as Champion Life Church, has deep roots in the Spring community. The congregation began in February 1973 when Bishop Jabo Green and his wife, Polly, started hosting gatherings in their home.
More than five decades later, the church continues its ministry through worship services, children's and youth programs, small groups and community outreach opportunities. Its Thanksgiving initiative is one way the congregation puts its mission of serving others into practice.
Residents who would like to volunteer or contribute can find information on the church's Thanksgiving Outreach registration page.
Families interested in receiving a Thanksgiving meal should contact the church directly to ask about availability and distribution arrangements.

Montgomery County Food Bank Invites Residents to Join Holiday Helpings, November 1 Through December 31
In Conroe, Montgomery County Food Bank is preparing for one of its largest seasonal community initiatives, Holiday Helpings 2026, a countywide food and fundraising campaign taking place November 1 through December 31.
Presented by Waste Connections, the annual drive invites neighborhoods, businesses, churches, schools and community organizations to collect food or raise money to help local families experiencing hunger.
Residents can participate by hosting a traditional food drive, organizing a financial fundraiser or combining both efforts. Registered food drive hosts receive resources to help promote their collections, while fundraising participants can create personalized online donation pages.
Food donations will be accepted from November 16 through December 12 at Montgomery County Food Bank, located at 1 Food For Life Way in Conroe.
Donation drop-off hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
For neighborhoods interested in organizing a drive, this could be an opportunity for HOA boards, residents and local businesses to work together to support families throughout Montgomery County. A collection box at a neighborhood clubhouse, community event or participating business can provide a convenient way for neighbors to contribute.
Montgomery County Food Bank has spent more than four decades addressing hunger in the community. Rather than operating as a single traditional food pantry, it works with a network of more than 90 partner agencies, school districts and community organizations to distribute food to children, seniors and families who need assistance.
Its partnerships also help prevent food waste by redirecting usable surplus food from retailers and wholesalers to neighbors who need it.
Families who need groceries can connect with the Food Bank's partner pantry network and local distribution programs. Because assistance is provided through multiple locations, residents should use the organization's website to locate a nearby food assistance partner and confirm distribution schedules.
Those interested in organizing a Holiday Helpings drive can register through Montgomery County Food Bank's official event page.
Questions about participation, donations or sponsorship opportunities can be directed to holidayhelpings@mcfoodbank.org.

Conroe Church of Christ, located at 1860 Longmire Road, will hold its annual Christmas Food Drive distribution on Saturday, December 12, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon.
The drive-through event provides food to families in need during the Christmas season.

Families interested in the December 12 distribution should contact the church to confirm any eligibility or participation requirements.

Salvation Army Angel Tree Program in Conroe Continues Collecting Christmas Gifts, Registration Already Closed
For many families, one of the greatest holiday challenges is finding room in the household budget for Christmas gifts.
The Salvation Army of Montgomery County is helping address that need through its 2026 Angel Tree program, which connects donors with children and seniors who might otherwise go without gifts during the holidays.
The local program operates through The Salvation Army's Montgomery County location at 304 Avenue E in Conroe.
Through Angel Tree, participating families register eligible children or seniors for assistance. Donors then help fulfill gift wishes by purchasing clothing, toys and other requested items, allowing families experiencing financial hardship to share in the Christmas season.
Registration for the Montgomery County 2026 Angel Tree program took place September 28 through October 10 and is now closed. The program serves eligible children ages 12 and younger and seniors ages 62 and older. Gift distribution for approved applicants is scheduled for December 21 by appointment.
Families who missed the registration period are encouraged to call 2-1-1 for information about other community assistance programs that may still have availability.
Residents and businesses can still support the Angel Tree effort by purchasing gifts through the organization's online gift registries or contacting the local Salvation Army about current donation and volunteer needs.
The Salvation Army has a long history of providing social services, disaster assistance, food support and emergency help to individuals and families experiencing hardship. Its Christmas programs are among its most recognizable efforts, but the organization's work continues throughout the year.
In Montgomery County, the program serves qualifying households in designated ZIP codes, including Conroe, Montgomery, Willis, New Caney and several other surrounding communities.

CityWide Impact Christmas in New Caney Reaches Registration Capacity, Community Support Still Welcome
A Christmas Day celebration in New Caney is already receiving strong community interest.

The free event is designed to bring individuals and families together for Christmas dinner, children's gifts, visits with Santa, activities and care packages for adults who need additional support.
Organizers have confirmed that preregistration has reached capacity and is now closed. A limited number of children's gifts and care packages may be available for walk-up guests while supplies last, but unregistered families should not assume gifts will be available.

How Spring, New Caney and Conroe Families Can Find Holiday Assistance in 2026
For households already managing tight budgets, the additional expense of Thanksgiving meals and Christmas gifts can create significant financial pressure. Local organizations are working to help fill those gaps, but availability, service boundaries and registration requirements differ.
Families looking for Thanksgiving groceries, Christmas gifts or other support are encouraged to contact participating organizations directly rather than waiting until the week of the holiday. Some programs require advance registration, while others distribute assistance through existing client services or scheduled outreach events.
Residents who missed the Salvation Army Angel Tree registration deadline or are unable to participate in another holiday program can call 2-1-1, the statewide referral service that helps connect Texans with available food assistance, nonprofit services and other community resources.
Montgomery County Food Bank, Mission Northeast, Northwest Assistance Ministries and several local churches also provide assistance beyond the holiday season, making them valuable resources for families who may need ongoing support.
Those who are able to give can make a difference in several ways. Organizing a neighborhood food drive, volunteering to assemble holiday meal boxes, donating toys or supporting a local nonprofit financially can all help these organizations reach more people.
Residents who cannot afford to donate financially can still contribute their time, help spread the word or share information about available assistance with families who may benefit.
A few cans of food, a morning spent packing boxes or a donated Christmas gift can make a meaningful difference for neighbors facing a difficult season.
As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach, these efforts offer Spring, New Caney and Conroe residents another opportunity to support the organizations working year-round to care for local families, while helping ease financial burdens and bring a little extra joy to local families this holiday season.
