Homesense to Open October 22 in Shenandoah, Bringing New Home Furniture and Décor Shopping to The Woodlands and Conroe
Residents of The Woodlands, Conroe and surrounding Montgomery County communities will soon have a new place to shop for furniture, home décor and those finishing touches that make a house feel like home. Homesense is opening Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Portofino Shopping Center in Shenandoah, bringing another home furnishings retailer to the busy I-45 corridor.
Whether someone is furnishing a new home, updating a living room or preparing for holiday guests, the new store will offer everything from larger furniture and area rugs to decorative accents, lighting and kitchen essentials. The opening also comes with a community commitment: Homesense plans to donate $10,000 to a local organization.
Located at 19075 I-45, Suite 110, near Tamina Road, the Shenandoah Homesense will welcome its first customers from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on opening day, giving local shoppers an early opportunity to explore the store ahead of the holiday shopping season.
What Is Homesense, and How Is It Different From HomeGoods?
For shoppers who already frequent HomeGoods, T.J. Maxx or Marshalls, the Homesense name may sound familiar. All four retailers are part of The TJX Companies, but Homesense offers a somewhat different shopping experience.
Launched in the United States in 2017, Homesense focuses on home furnishings and décor, with expanded selections of larger furniture, ceiling lighting and area rugs that distinguish it from the traditional HomeGoods format.
While HomeGoods shoppers might stop in for throw pillows, picture frames or seasonal decorations, Homesense places greater emphasis on furnishings that can help transform an entire room.
The distinction could be particularly useful for homeowners throughout The Woodlands and Conroe who prefer to see furniture, compare materials and get a better sense of an item's size before making a purchase.
Like other TJX retailers, Homesense operates with a changing inventory, meaning shoppers may find different merchandise from one visit to the next.
What Can Shoppers Expect at the New Shenandoah Homesense?
The new Homesense at Portofino Shopping Center will feature several departments designed for everything from small decorating projects to larger home updates.
Among the highlighted features are a Rug Emporium, a wall art and mirror gallery, and a lighting department featuring chandeliers and other decorative fixtures.
Customers can also browse furniture, bedding, bathroom accessories, kitchen merchandise and entertaining essentials.
The retailer says its merchandise selection is refreshed weekly, with recognizable brands, artisan-made items and seasonal products arriving throughout the year. Because inventory changes regularly, shoppers may discover something different each time they visit.
That variety could be especially appealing as Montgomery County households prepare for Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holiday gatherings. A new serving platter, guest room bedding or dining room accent might be on the shopping list, while others may be looking for a sofa, statement mirror or area rug to complete a larger project.
Homesense promotes discounted pricing compared with full-price department and specialty retailers. However, the company's pricing disclosures explain that advertised savings are based on comparable merchandise and do not necessarily mean every item costs less than an identical product sold elsewhere.
Why the Shenandoah Location Matters for The Woodlands and Conroe
For residents across southern Montgomery County, the new Homesense provides another option for shopping locally rather than traveling farther into the Houston area.
Homesense currently has Greater Houston locations at Grand Lakes Market Place, 6565 South Fry Road in Katy, and Riverstone Shopping Center, 5752 Highway 6 in Missouri City.
The Shenandoah opening brings the retailer closer to households in The Woodlands, Conroe, Oak Ridge North, Spring and nearby communities.
Situated along I-45 at Portofino Shopping Center, the location is accessible to residents traveling between Conroe and The Woodlands for work, errands and shopping.
For families settling into new homes or longtime homeowners refreshing their spaces, having another furniture and home décor store nearby means more opportunities to compare styles, prices and merchandise without making a longer trip across Greater Houston.
The opening also adds another national retail name to Montgomery County's shopping landscape as residential and commercial development continues throughout the area.
According to the retailer's October opening announcement, Homesense has 88 stores across the United States.
Homesense Plans $10,000 Donation to a Local Organization
Beyond the new shopping opportunities, Homesense is marking its Shenandoah grand opening with a planned $10,000 contribution to a local organization.
The company has not yet publicly identified the recipient or explained how the donation will be used.
While additional details are still forthcoming, the contribution introduces a charitable component to the store's arrival in Montgomery County.
For a community where local nonprofits, volunteers and charitable organizations play an important role in supporting families and neighbors, the announcement is another aspect of the opening worth following.
A New Shopping Option Arrives Just Ahead of the Holidays
With the holiday season approaching, the timing of the Shenandoah Homesense opening gives local residents another option for decorating, entertaining and preparing their homes for visiting family and friends.
For some, the attraction may be the chance to browse furniture and lighting in person. For others, it could be finding an affordable decorative piece or picking up a few things for the guest room before Thanksgiving.
And with a $10,000 charitable contribution planned alongside the grand opening, there is also a local community connection to watch as the retailer prepares to welcome its first customers.
Homesense officially opens October 22 at Portofino Shopping Center in Shenandoah. Residents interested in visiting can take advantage of the extended opening-day hours or stop by during regular business hours afterward.
