Barbara Bush Library Offers Full Slate of December 2025 Events for Local Families

As the holiday season approaches, the Barbara Bush Branch Library invites Champions Park residents to warm up their December with a festive and educational lineup of programs for all ages. Whether you're looking for interactive family events, hands-on crafts, technology skills, or cozy book clubs, the library's calendar is packed with free activities that aim to engage, inspire, and connect the community.

A cornerstone of the Harris County Public Library system, the Barbara Bush Branch Library is known for its inclusive programming and commitment to literacy and lifelong learning. Located in the heart of northwest Harris County at 6817 Cypresswood Dr, Spring, TX 77379, the library is a cherished resource for Champions Park residents and beyond.

December 2025 Highlights at a Glance

The month kicks off with a variety of recurring favorites:

  • Senior Game Day: Every Wednesday at 10:00 AM (Adults)
  • Stitch Chicks Knit & Crochet: Fridays at 1:00 PM (Adults)
  • Taller Vivencial: Spanish-language personal development workshop on Wednesdays at 12:30 PM (Adults)
  • Office Hours for Knit & Crochet Help: 1st & 3rd Wednesdays at 3:00 PM

For families with young children, December brings multiple opportunities for engaging early literacy experiences:

  • Baby Storytime: Mondays, December 1 & 8 at 10:30 AM
  • Pajama Storytime: Monday, December 1 at 6:30 PM
  • Toddler Time: Tuesdays, December 2 & 9 at 10:30 AM
  • Preschool Storytime: Wednesdays, December 3 & 10 at 10:30 AM

Note: The Children’s Department will be on a programming break from December 15 through January 3.

  • Tuesday Crafternoon — Christmas Crackers: December 2 at 3:00 PM (Adults)
  • Holiday Puppet Show: December 9 at 4:30 PM
  • Teen String Art & Bad Art Society: December 11 at 11:00 AM & 4:00 PM
  • Cocoa, Craft & Chill: December 17 at 4:30 PM (Teens)
  • Diamond Painting: December 19 at 4:00 PM

Don't miss the Winter Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 6 at 1:00 PM, followed by a special reading of A Christmas Carol at 2:00 PM.

Tech Skills and Literacy for Adults

  • Romance Book Club: December 16 at 6:30 PM
  • Non-Fiction Book Club & Journaling Group: December 20 at 2:30 PM
  • The Scribe Tribe Writing Group: December 13 at 10:00 AM

Educational Fun for Kids and Teens

The Barbara Bush Library's programs include educational enrichment like:

  • T(w)een D&D: December 3 & 17 at 5:00 PM
  • Wags & Tales (Read to a Dog): December 10 at 4:30 PM
  • Can You Believe It?!: December 12 at 1:00 PM
  • Cruisin’ with Ms. Caroline: December 18 at 1:00 PM
  • Teen Trivia: December 18 at 11:00 AM
  • Music of the Nutcracker: December 15 at 1:00 PM (Ages 2–6)
  • Paws 4 Purpose: December 16 at 4:00 PM

The library will also host North Houston Space Society on December 13 at 2:00 PM and a Dacamera Jazz Trio Performance on December 18 at 7:00 PM.

Closures & Holiday Hours

The library will close early at 5 PM on:

  • Wednesday, December 23 and Wednesday, December 30

It will be fully closed:

  • December 24–28 for Christmas
  • December 31–January 1 for New Year’s

Regular hours resume on Monday, December 29 and Thursday, January 2.
