Avesta Persian Middle Eastern Soft Opens in Katy with Homemade Flavors and Global Heart

October 30 2025

A Houston favorite is now serving up its signature Persian hospitality in Katy. Avesta Persian Middle Eastern has quietly opened the doors to its second location near Katy Asian Town at 1223 Grand West Blvd, Suite B-105, inviting locals in for lunch breaks, birthday celebrations, or just a quick escape to bold, homemade flavors rooted in tradition.

Founded in 2015 by Zafar Anvari—a passionate restaurateur originally from Dushanbe, Tajikistan—Avesta quickly became one of Houston’s top-rated Persian restaurants. The original location on Westheimer gained a loyal following and national recognition, with accolades like Yelp’s “Top 100 Places to Eat in Texas,” the Houston Chronicle’s “Top 100 Restaurants,” and a spot on Foursquare’s list of “Best Places for Kebabs in Houston.”

And now, Katy gets a taste of it too.

Made from Scratch, Served with Soul

At its heart, Avesta is a celebration of Persian culinary heritage. “We’ve always stayed true to freshly made, homemade-style cooking,” said the team in a recent announcement. “But now, Katy has a spot for that comfort food feel on a quick lunch break, a special occasion, or just a weeknight craving.”

Step inside and you're welcomed with the scent of slow-roasted spices and freshly baked Persian sesame bread. The menu is both generous and approachable, with an expansive lineup that includes:

  • House-made appetizers like creamy Persian Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, and Kashke Bademjan—a comforting eggplant dish with mint, walnuts, caramelized onion, and tangy whey yogurt.

  • Signature small plates such as Stuffed Grape Leaves, Fried Cauliflower tossed with lemon and feta, Muhammaramade with pomegranate molasses, and Fried Kibbeh—a crispy shell of seasoned beef and bulgur.

  • Hand-grilled kabobs across chicken, lamb, beef, and seafood categories, marinated with bold herbs and spices, served with fragrant basmati rice and grilled vegetables.

  • Comforting stews and curries, plus vegetarian favorites that make this menu inclusive and flexible for any dietary style.

  • And don’t skip the sauces—Toum (a garlicky Lebanese-style aioli), Spicy Tahina, and Zhoug (a fiery cilantro jalapeño blend) offer the perfect customizations to your plate.

Avesta’s desserts and drinks round out the meal, offering sweet bites and refreshing options for a complete experience.

A Thoughtful Expansion

The Katy location was first announced back in August 2025, creating a stir among food lovers throughout Fort Bend County. Now open in soft-launch mode, the new space offers a cozy, casual setting that honors the same heart and soul as its Houston predecessor.

Located in the ever-popular Katy Asian Town district—a culinary destination in its own right—Avesta joins a melting pot of global flavors while adding its own distinct cultural offering.

This second location continues Avesta’s mission: to connect communities through food, storytelling, and shared experience. The name “Avesta” itself is inspired by the ancient Zoroastrian text—a nod to a rich, literary past that ties directly into the recipes passed down through generations.
