Austin’s New Bond Dashboard Opens a Window Into Project Spending and Progress

Austin
October 03 2026

Austin launched a public Bond Dashboard on October 1, giving residents one place to examine projects financed through the city’s 2016, 2018, 2020 and 2022 general-obligation bond programs.

The Austin Bond Dashboard offers sections for bond programs by year, projects by proposition and individual project searches. A resident following a particular improvement can look for its description, funding and contact information.

Read the status and spending together

The project stages distinguish early planning from design, construction and completion. Design includes preparation for construction, such as bidding and contract awards. Completed means the city has accepted the improvements and opened them to the public.

Cancelled projects will not proceed as originally planned, and their funds have been or are being reassigned. A project’s stage does not necessarily match the share of its budget spent or committed.

The dashboard’s financial display separates expenditures from encumbrances and combines them as obligated funds. That distinction helps readers avoid treating money committed to a project as money already spent.

Look beyond a single total

The dashboard also provides proposition descriptions. For example, the affordable-housing sections distinguish property acquisition and development, home repair assistance, and ownership and rental housing development programs. Those categories help show what a bond authorization can fund before readers examine individual projects.

The city plans further mapping improvements to connect projects with their locations. The dashboard covers Austin city projects; it is not an inventory of every county or neighboring city’s capital work.
