Tumble 22 Expanding in Austin With Two New Restaurants, Free Sandwich Giveaway and Community Fundraisers
Austin's homegrown hot chicken favorite, Tumble 22, is adding two new restaurants to its Central Texas lineup, bringing its signature Nashville-inspired hot chicken to Northwest Austin and South Lamar. The first location will open November 7, 2026, near The Arboretum, while a second restaurant is planned for 2027.
For residents who have been making the drive to Tumble 22's other Austin-area restaurants, the expansion means another neighborhood option for a casual lunch, family dinner or weekend gathering. The company is also marking its newest opening with a yearlong sandwich giveaway and fundraising events supporting two Central Texas nonprofits.
The announcement, made October 16, comes as Tumble 22 celebrates a decade since it began serving hot chicken from a single Austin food truck. What started as a local food venture in 2016 has grown into a Texas restaurant brand with nearly a dozen locations.
Tumble 22 Arboretum Restaurant Opens November 7 With Free Sandwich Promotion
The new Tumble 22 Arboretum restaurant will open at 9761 Great Hills Trail, Suite B, Austin, TX 78759, near The Arboretum shopping area and across from Trader Joe's.
To celebrate its grand opening on Saturday, November 7, the restaurant is offering a special promotion for its earliest customers. The first 75 guests through the doors will receive a free O.G. hot chicken sandwich once a month for an entire year.
For fans of the restaurant's signature sandwich, that means 12 opportunities to return for a favorite meal. The company encourages customers interested in the promotion to arrive early, as the offer is limited to the first 75 guests.
Tumble 22 President Avid Noble said the company has been interested in joining the Northwest Austin community for some time.
“We’re thrilled to bring Tumble 22 to Northwest Austin and the Arboretum area,” Noble said. “This is a dynamic community that we’ve had our eye on for some time, and we’re excited for the opportunity to become part of it. At Tumble 22, we’re passionate about creating a place where people feel welcome and bringing Texas hospitality and the Best Damn Chicken in Town to every table.”
Grand Opening Events Will Support Breast Cancer Screenings and Local Veterans
Before the official opening, Tumble 22 plans to host Friends & Family events on October 30 and 31, with all net proceeds benefiting two organizations serving Central Texas residents.
One beneficiary is Lone Star Circle of Care's Big Pink Bus, a mobile breast cancer screening program that helps make mammograms more accessible to women throughout Central Texas. By bringing screening services into communities, the program works to reduce barriers that can prevent people from receiving preventive care.
The second beneficiary is Heroes Resource Center, a Cedar Park-based nonprofit supporting veterans, active-duty service members and their families through resources, services and community connections.
The fundraisers give the new restaurant an opportunity to support organizations already working with local families before its first official day of business.
Tumble 22 also reports supporting school fundraisers and sourcing ingredients from Texas farmers as part of its broader community involvement.
What's on the Menu at Tumble 22?
Its menu includes the O.G. hot chicken sandwich, jumbo chicken tenders, classic bone-in fried chicken and heavenly eggs, along with Southern-style sides such as collard greens and macaroni and cheese.
Guests can also order fresh salads, homemade pies by the slice or whole, house-made sauces and plant-based options. The restaurant serves beer and cocktails, offering a casual setting for everything from a quick meal to an evening with friends.
One of the brand's distinguishing features is its chicken preparation. According to the company, Tumble 22 uses all-natural, Texas-raised chicken that is hand-breaded and tumbled 22 times to create its signature crunchy coating. The company also describes its kitchens as MSG-free.
Regular customers may recognize the restaurant's rotating O.G. sandwich specials, including seasonal creations such as the Thanksgiving Stuffed Dipper. Tumble 22 also develops Dream O.G. sandwiches based on ideas submitted by customers, giving diners an opportunity to influence the menu.
South Lamar Tumble 22 Restaurant Planned for 2027
Northwest Austin isn't the only area getting a new Tumble 22.
The company also announced plans for a restaurant at 2929 S. Lamar Boulevard, Austin, TX 78704, with an anticipated opening sometime in 2027.
The South Lamar location will bring the restaurant to one of Austin's established dining corridors, where neighborhood restaurants, local shops and longtime businesses serve residents throughout South Austin.
An exact opening date, operating hours and additional details about the South Lamar restaurant have not yet been announced.
From an Austin Food Truck to Restaurants Across Texas
Tumble 22's growth is particularly meaningful for Austin residents who remember the restaurant's early days.
The company launched in 2016 as a single food truck, building its following around fried chicken, Southern-inspired sides and a relaxed approach to dining.
Ten years later, Tumble 22 has expanded across Texas while continuing to identify itself as an Austin-born restaurant.
Its existing Austin-area locations include Burnet Road, Lake Austin, Pflugerville, Cedar Park and Round Rock. The company also operates restaurants in San Marcos and Houston.
The two newly announced Austin locations will expand the brand's reach into neighborhoods where residents may not currently have a Tumble 22 close to home.
For the restaurant, the new openings represent another stage in its growth. For longtime customers, they offer a reminder of how much the local food scene has changed since a hot chicken food truck first appeared in Austin a decade ago.
