At Home Stores in Katy to Stay Open Amid Company’s Debt Restructuring Effort
The beloved home décor chain At Home is entering a new financial chapter designed to help the company clear nearly $2 billion in debt and emerge stronger—without closing stores or sacrificing the shopping experience that local customers know and love.
Residents of Katy and Richmond can breathe easy: both nearby At Home locations—at 19420 Katy Freeway in Houston and 4833 Waterview Meadow Drive in Richmond—will remain open and fully operational throughout the process.
“This move allows us to reduce our debt and focus on what we do best—offering customers stylish home décor at unbeatable value,” said Brad Weston, CEO of At Home. “Our stores are open, our shelves are stocked, and our teams are here to serve.”
Why At Home Has Filed for Chapter 11
At Home has officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, a legal step that allows the business to restructure without shutting down. The company’s plan is supported by over 95% of its lenders, and includes eliminating almost all of its $2 billion in debt, receiving $200 million in new capital, and securing $600 million in financing to keep operations running smoothly during the court-supervised process.
The restructuring agreement also involves a transition in ownership to the lenders providing new financial support, which includes firms like Redwood Capital Management and Farallon Capital.

Both the Katy Freeway and Waterview Meadow Drive locations remain fully staffed, and customers can expect normal store hours, continued inventory flow, and no interruptions in online or in-store services.
A Long-Term Strategy, Not a Sign of Trouble
Like many retailers navigating a shifting economy and rising costs, At Home is using this financial restructuring to streamline operations, strengthen its balance sheet, and invest in better inventory and customer experience. The goal is not just survival, but long-term growth—with a renewed focus on value, design, and efficiency.
