Anniston Community Foundation Makes Inaugural Donation to Support Katy Christian Ministries’ Operation Easter
In its very first act of community giving, the newly established Anniston Community Foundation has made a meaningful debut—by supporting Katy Christian Ministries’ Operation Easter, a beloved annual initiative that spreads hope and joy to children from low-income families across the Katy area.
The foundation’s donation directly contributed to KCM’s Easter Egg Hunt and celebration, held this spring, where more than 200 children enjoyed a day of treats, games, and community connection.
“Thanks to this contribution, over 200 children will enjoy a day of fun, joy, and community celebration,” said Eddie Padilla, community manager for Anniston. “This is just the beginning of our mission to give back and invest in the future of the area surrounding Anniston.”
A New Nonprofit Rooted in Community Growth
The Anniston Community Foundation, established by Friendswood Development Company, is a nonprofit corporation created to serve both the Anniston community and the surrounding greater Katy area. What makes it unique is its ongoing funding model: the foundation collects a percentage of every home sale in perpetuity, allowing for long-term investment in local causes.
Operating independently from the Anniston Homeowners Association, the Foundation is overseen by its own Board of Directors, ensuring decisions are made with a wide-reaching and community-focused lens. Its mission is to support schools, police and fire stations, food banks, and both public services and private organizations that serve local residents.

The contribution to KCM is the Foundation’s first official donation, setting a precedent for its role in uplifting essential services and seasonal outreach programs.
Supporting a Longstanding Katy Tradition
Katy Christian Ministries’ Operation Easter began in 2018 with a simple mission: to ensure that families facing financial hardship can still celebrate Easter with joy and dignity. Founded by Katy resident Nanette Kitchen, the initiative has grown each year thanks to the support of local churches, civic groups, and donors.
In 2025, the program again delivered Easter baskets, candy, toys, and an unforgettable Easter egg hunt event, helping children feel seen and celebrated. For families served by KCM’s Crisis Center and Social Services programs, the event offered not just gifts, but hope.
“This is just the beginning of the Foundation’s commitment to community-focused giving,” Padilla added. “We’re proud to support a program like Operation Easter that brings immediate joy to local children and aligns with our long-term vision for serving the community.”

The Broader Impact of Community Giving
While Easter baskets may seem like a small gesture, they symbolize something much larger—dignity, inclusion, and hope. For the Anniston Community Foundation, choosing Operation Easter as its first initiative reflects a broader commitment to supporting local nonprofits and building a stronger, more connected region.
As the Foundation continues to grow alongside the Anniston development, residents and supporters can expect future grants and gifts to fuel programs that enhance quality of life for families across Fort Bend, Harris, and Waller counties.
