Angels’ Attic Willowbrook Celebrates One Year of Giving Back: Anniversary Event Supports Cypress Assistance Ministries

Northwest Houston  /  Northwest Houston
June 03 2026

For many families across Cypress, Willowbrook, and Northwest Houston, a donated lamp, gently used kitchen appliance, or bag of clothing can become something much bigger than a secondhand purchase. It can help keep the lights on, put food on the table, or provide support during a difficult season of life.

This week marks the first anniversary of the Angels’ Attic Resale Willowbrook location, and Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) is inviting the community to celebrate the milestone while supporting a mission that has been serving local neighbors for more than three decades.

The 1-Year Anniversary Celebration will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Angels’ Attic Resale Willowbrook, 7440 Cypress Creek Parkway, Houston, TX 77070. Guests are invited to stop by, mingle with supporters, enjoy light refreshments, and shop while supporting a local nonprofit organization.

Every purchase made at Angels’ Attic directly benefits the programs and services offered through Cypress Assistance Ministries.

More Than a Resale Store

When Angels’ Attic opened its second resale location near Willowbrook in June 2025, the goal was simple: create another way for the community to support local families while expanding access to affordable household goods and clothing.

One year later, the store continues to serve as both a shopping destination and a funding source for CAM’s community programs.

The Willowbrook location joins the original Angels’ Attic store in Cypress at 12930 Cypress N Houston Road, creating two convenient locations where residents can shop, donate, and volunteer.

Visitors will find a wide variety of gently used items, including:

  • Clothing for adults and children
  • Shoes, jewelry, and accessories
  • Home décor and seasonal decorations
  • Kitchenware and housewares
  • Books, games, toys, and puzzles
  • Small appliances and electronics
  • Furniture and household furnishings

While shoppers often come looking for bargains and unique finds, every sale helps fund services for local families facing financial hardship.

From Macaroni and Cheese to a Community Lifeline

The story of Cypress Assistance Ministries began in 1990 with a small group of volunteers serving macaroni and cheese meals from the backseat of a car to neighbors experiencing hunger.

What started as a simple act of compassion quickly grew into a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families navigate financial crises and build long-term stability.

Today, CAM serves thousands of residents throughout the Cypress area through programs that include:

  • Emergency rent, mortgage, and utility assistance
  • A choice-based food pantry and Food Pharmacy
  • Clothing, furniture, and household essentials
  • Job counseling and workforce development through Operation Jobs
  • Adult education programs
  • School supply drives and seasonal assistance programs
  • Support services for seniors and vulnerable residents

According to CAM, more than 30,000 individuals living within its service area fall below the poverty line, while thousands of children face food insecurity and many families remain one unexpected expense away from homelessness.

Behind those numbers are real people seeking stability, support, and opportunity.

Spring Cleaning? Your Donations Can Make a Difference

As many residents continue tackling spring cleaning projects, CAM is encouraging the community to consider donating gently used items rather than throwing them away.

Every donation accepted by Angels’ Attic becomes inventory for the stores, generating revenue that helps fund community programs.

CAM currently accepts:

  • Adult and children's clothing
  • Shoes, jewelry, and accessories
  • Home décor and seasonal décor
  • Housewares and kitchenware
  • Linens, bedding, and towels
  • Books, toys, puzzles, and games
  • Working small appliances and electronics
  • Furniture in good condition
  • Baby and children's gear that meets current safety standards

The organization asks donors not to leave items outside after hours.

Items that cannot be accepted include:

  • Mattresses and box springs
  • Drop-side cribs
  • Car seats and helmets
  • Broken, stained, or heavily damaged items
  • Large appliances
  • Hazardous materials, paint, or chemicals
  • Tube televisions

Charitable donation receipts are available for all contributions.

Looking for a Way to Serve? Volunteers Are Needed

While donations and shoppers help keep Angels’ Attic running, volunteers remain the heart of Cypress Assistance Ministries.

CAM offers opportunities for individuals, families, church groups, businesses, and community organizations to get involved in meaningful ways.

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Angels’ Attic Resale Stores: Assist with merchandising, customer service, cashiering, sorting donations, and preparing inventory for sale.
  • Donation Center: Help process the hundreds of donated items received each week.
  • Food Pantry: Stock shelves, organize food donations, and assist families receiving groceries.
  • Special Delivery Program: Deliver groceries to senior and disabled neighbors while providing valuable social connection.
  • Administrative Support: Assist with office operations, community outreach, and data entry.
  • Assistance Office: Serve as an assistance counselor helping connect neighbors with available resources and support services.
  • Group Volunteer Opportunities: Church groups, civic organizations, and businesses can schedule volunteer days together.
Youth Volunteer Guidelines
  • Ages 16 and older may volunteer independently after orientation.
  • Ages 14-15 may volunteer as part of a supervised youth group.
  • Individual volunteering is not permitted for children under 16.

Celebrating a Year of Community Impact

The Willowbrook anniversary celebration is about more than marking a date on the calendar. It is a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to support its neighbors.

Whether someone donates a box of household items, shops for a bargain, volunteers a few hours each month, or simply spreads the word, those actions help fuel programs that provide food, emergency assistance, education, employment support, and hope for families across the area.

As Angels’ Attic Willowbrook celebrates its first year, CAM leaders hope the event will inspire even more residents to discover how everyday acts of generosity can make a lasting difference close to home.

Residents are invited to stop by the anniversary celebration on June 5, enjoy refreshments, browse the store, and learn more about the mission behind every donation and purchase.
