The Summer Meals Program is an excellent opportunity for children and teens ages 18 and under and enrolled students up to 21 years old with disabilities to receive nutritious meals at no cost.
The program is easy to access. Participants need only show up at a participating meal site during operating hours, and they will receive a healthy meal. Finding a participating meal site is also effortless. Beginning on June 1, individuals can visit SummerFood.org to locate a nearby meal site and its hours of operation. Alternatively, individuals can call 211 or text “FOOD” to 304-304 for information about a nearby meal site.
The Summer Meals Program is an excellent initiative for families who struggle to provide adequate nutrition for their children during the summer months. Providing healthy meals is critical to children’s development, and this program ensures that no child goes hungry during the summer months. The program helps families stretch their food budgets, so they can meet other essential needs, such as rent and utilities.
