A Field of Dreams: Cy-Hope Raising Funds for New Baseball Fields
In the beginning, Cy-Hope funded two CFISD elementary schools, Andre and Francone. These kids had never seen a glove or a bat, let alone played catch with their dad. Their families couldn't afford the Cy-Fair Sports Association (CFSA) fee, so Cy-Hope sponsored them. They were beaten badly game after game. Fortunately, they still enjoyed playing.
After three years, CFSA eliminated the "Friendship" level of competition. Cy-Hope's two schools weren't ready to play "Select" or "Elite" baseball. They weren't even close to this level of play. This is when Cy-Hope made the decision to disband their two teams.
After a year of inactivity of our sponsored teams, Cy-Hope formed an alliance with Spring Spirit, a baseball program with similar goals - good baseball and good family values. Spring Spirit brought Cy-Hope back to life, but they were growing too. In 2018, Cy-Hope started their own league serving only Title 1 elementary and middle schools in CFISD, dubbed Dierker's Champs. Cy-Fair ISD’s new administration building is being constructed where Dierker’s Champs played their games up until last spring, so they have been renting fields in the interim. But with continued expansion of the program, Dierker's Champs needs their own fields.
