45 CFISD Musicians Named to TMEA 2022-2023 All-State Ensembles

January 23 2023

Forty-five CFISD high school music students recently earned All-State honors through the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) audition process.

Cypress Falls High School choir members, from left, Arim Choi, Natalie Kolb, Julia Starr, Ashlee Hernandez, Gabriel Gutierrez and Hannah Clegg, were all named to Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) All-State choir ensembles. In all, 45 CFISD students were named to band, choir and orchestra all-state ensembles.

Students began the process of competing locally in the fall semester and advanced through a series of rigorous competition rounds to eventually earn this performance distinction. Earning All-State honors is the highest distinction of a Texas music student can receive. Approximately 1,875 students were selected to receive the honor through the audition process that began with more than 70,000 students from across the state.

Langham Creek High School band members, from left, Nicolas Love, Michael Hood, Michael Poirrier and Daniela Arce, earned 2022-2023 TMEA All-State honors.

“We continue to be impressed with the hard-working CFISD students that earned the opportunity to compete recently at the area round of auditions,” said John Morrison, director of fine arts. “The growth through the TMEA All-State process will certainly continue to benefit their own individual musicianship skills. The 45 students that ultimately received All-State status are to be commended for their exceptional achievement.”

Bridgeland High School choir members, from left, Jonah Moore, Chloe Morse, Donovan Duarte, Kory Farquhar and Jacob Moore, earned 2022-2023 TEMA All-State honors.

The students have been invited to the TMEA Clinic/Convention on Feb. 8-11 in San Antonio where they will work with world-class conductors to present All-State concerts. TMEA is the largest music education conference of its kind in the world.

Cy-Fair High School band members, from left, Nathan Paulino, Justin Petry and Aaron Antony, earned 2022-2023 TMEA All-State honors.
