20th Annual Pass in Review Showcases CFISD's AFJROTC Cadets
Hundreds of cadets representing all 12 CFISD high schools and nine JROTC units displayed their discipline and uniformity at the district’s 20th Annual Air Force Junior ROTC Pass in Review, held March 2 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.
The Pass in Review is a longstanding military tradition designed to display the readiness of troops and their units to a newly assigned commander. Dr. Doug Killian, CFISD superintendent of schools, served as the reviewing official. Among those in attendance were family members of the cadets, Board of Trustee members and campus and district administrators.
“I’ve never been to a Junior ROTC Pass in Review, so this is something special,” said Dr. Killian. “All the cadets did a fantastic job. I’m so proud of them and proud to be associated with them.”
The annual ceremony is unique in that it’s the only time every cadet from across the district is together.
“Pass in Review is the big family event of the year,” said SMSgt. Michael Claiborn, Cy-Fair High School senior aerospace science instructor. “This event is an opportunity for not only Cy-Fair High School, but all the high schools in the district to come together to show what they’ve learned, show their discipline drill and make the community proud. What’s also unique about Pass in Review is it’s all cadet-led.”
Cy-Fair High School AFJROTC Unit TX-20057 served as the host for this year’s Pass in Review. The school’s unit is led by SMSgt. Claiborn and Cy-Fair senior Lainey Simmons served as the commander of troops.
