2025 Cy-Fair Parade of Lights Returns Dec. 7 – Holiday Fun for Families, Firefighter Fundraiser, and a Heroic Grand Marshal

November 12 2025

The Cy-Fair community will sparkle once again as the 28th annual Parade of Lights returns on Sunday, December 7, 2025, lighting up the night with festive floats, fire trucks, and heartfelt holiday cheer—all while supporting Texas volunteer firefighters through the Texas Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund (TVFFRF).

This beloved event draws families from across Cypress, Bear Creek, and Copperfield to kick off the season with a spectacular show of lights and unity, all for a meaningful cause.

Grand Marshal Announced: Honoring a Hero from the Cy-Fair Community

This year’s Grand Marshal is someone who embodies the very heart of community service and resilience. The Parade of Lights will be led by Denise Corliss, a longtime volunteer firefighter and canine search and rescue specialist with the Cy-Fair Fire Department.

With over 25 years of volunteer service, Corliss has made an extraordinary impact through her leadership of the Cy-Fair Search Team and as a FEMA Canine Search Specialist with Texas A&M Task Force 1. Alongside her specially trained Golden Retrievers—Rennes, a Live-Find canine, and Finn, a Human Remains Detection dog—Denise has responded to some of the most devastating disasters in U.S. history.

Her deployment history includes the 9/11 attacks, Hurricanes Katrina, Ike, and Harvey, the Hawaii wildfires, and the 2025 Kerrville floods. She also serves as a FEMA Canine Evaluator, TEEX Instructor, and a Board Member of the Texas Task Force Foundation.

"We are honored to recognize Denise Corliss and her canine partners as this year’s Grand Marshal," said event organizer Barbara Dorr. "Their unwavering service to Texas and our nation is a true reflection of the spirit this parade celebrates."

About the Texas Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund

The Texas Volunteer Firefighters’ Relief Fund (TVFFRF) was founded in 1996 by a group of volunteer firefighters who recognized a growing and urgent need: to support Texas’ unpaid first responders when crisis strikes. Today, the organization operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing direct, tangible assistance to volunteer firefighters and their families during some of life’s most challenging moments.

Over the years, the Relief Fund has made a meaningful difference across the state, delivering critical financial help to firefighters coping with catastrophic events—from medical emergencies to home losses and everything in between. Since its inception, TVFFRF has provided relief to more than 100 firefighters and their families, reflecting a long-standing commitment to service and community care.

Their mission remains simple but vital: to stand with the men and women who selflessly stand for all of us.
