12th Annual Superintendent’s Fun Run Returns to Berry Center March 28: A Morning of Family Fun for a Great Cause

January 30 2026

One of the most anticipated community events of the spring—the 12th Annual Superintendent’s Fun Run—will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Berry Center, located at 8877 Barker Cypress Road, and throughout the Towne Lake community.

Hosted by Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and underwritten by Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital, the event features a 5K run, 1-mile family walk, live entertainment, kids' zone, vendor booths, and food trucks—making it a celebration the entire family can enjoy. But beyond the fun, this outdoor gathering serves a greater purpose: raising money for college scholarships through the Cy-Fair Educational Foundation (CFEF).

Running for a Cause: Supporting Local Students

Since its founding in 1970, CFEF has awarded scholarships to graduating seniors across CFISD's 12 high schools. The foundation also funds staff development initiatives, such as the district’s Salute to the Stars event. With student enrollment continuing to rise and the cost of higher education climbing, the need for scholarship support has never been greater.

In 2025, the Fun Run raised $80,000 for CFEF—a milestone the district hopes to surpass this year with strong community participation.

Two Race Options, One Community Mission

Participants can choose between two event formats:

  • 5K Timed Run — Starting at the Berry Center, the 5K route will take runners through the scenic Towne Lake area and the Lone Star College–Cy-Fair campus.

  • 1-Mile Family Walk/Run — A more relaxed option perfect for families, this route winds through the Cy-Fair FCU Stadium.

Both events are designed to bring together neighbors, students, educators, and businesses to promote wellness, celebrate community spirit, and support CFISD’s next generation of college students.

Registration and Pricing Details

Early bird registration (before March 1):

  • 5K Run: $25 (non-students) / $20 (students)

Includes event t-shirt and timing chip.

  • 1-Mile Walk/Run: $22 (non-students) / $18 (students)

    Includes event t-shirt.

  • After March 1, prices increase by $2 per entry.

Award medals will be presented in various age and gender categories for the 5K runners.

For those who want to support but prefer to sleep in, a “Sleep-In Pass” is available for $10, offering a simple way to donate without participating in the run.

More Than a Race: Entertainment and Activities

Throughout the morning, attendees can enjoy:

  • Live student performances from CFISD campuses
  • A kids’ activity zone
  • Vendor booths from local businesses and organizations
  • A variety of food trucks offering breakfast and snack options

It’s an event where fitness, fun, and philanthropy come together for a greater cause—supporting the future of Cypress-area youth.
